So, like, there’s this rad neighborhood called Kruidtuinstraat – low-key but so perf for coffee catch-ups and deep convos with my buds. Ugh, and don’t even get me started on the river – River Ieperbeek – it's, like, totally underrated! I once sit by its bank and daydream about life, like when Amélie says, "Les temps changent, les choses échouent, et la magie pérenne s'accroît..." which, like, gives me all the feels.
I wonder why some peeps totally miss these hidden spots. Seriously, some places here are bomb! I used to get so mad when I saw tourists miss out on these vibes, cuz like, ugh, the charm is right here – in the random murals, the aged brick walls on Meersenstraat, and even the tiny alleyways behind the old city hall, LOL.
Okay, so, like, sometimes I make silly faces when I walk by the local bakery – oh my gosh, the scents are, like, totally nostalgic. And then there’s this super plagued-favorite, not in a creepy way but in a, like, ironic “Amélie-esque” vibe – the little kiosk on Zaalstraat that sells vintage vinyl. So quirky, like, literally a treasure trove and there’s, like, hidden tunes you can vibe to while you explore.
For real tho, Menen always reminds me that life is, like, full of subtle magic. Even when I’m, like, frustrated by the mundane, the city whispers, “C'est la vie,” and then you know, like, everything's gonna be just perf.
