Man, what a day! I’m a forester, right? So, I’m used to chillin’ in the woods, surrounded by trees and birds. But today? Oh boy, today was a whole different beast. I had to head into Rethel, and lemme tell ya, it was a wild ride. First off, Rethel is this cute little town in the Ardennes. You got the Place de la République, which is like the heart of the city. I mean, it’s where all the action happens, right? But today, it felt like a circus. I parked my truck on Rue de la République, and as soon as I stepped out, BAM! A pigeon poops right on my shoulder. Like, seriously? Thanks, bird. Just what I needed. So, I’m walking down the street, trying to shake off the bird bomb, and I see this market on Rue de la Gare. Fresh fruits, veggies, and all that jazz. I’m like, “Cool, I’ll grab some apples.” But then, this old lady starts haggling over a bunch of carrots. I mean, c’mon! It’s not like they’re gold-plated or something. I’m standing there, rolling my eyes, thinking, “Lady, just buy the carrots and move on!” Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud honking. I turn around, and it’s this dude in a tiny car, stuck in traffic. He’s waving his arms like a madman. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just Rethel traffic.” But nah, he’s losing it. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, it’s not like he’s in Paris or something. After that, I decide to hit up the local café on Rue de la Paix. I need a coffee, like, yesterday. I walk in, and it’s packed. I’m standing there, waiting, and this barista is moving slower than a snail. I’m thinking, “C’mon, I got trees to hug!” Finally, I get my coffee, and it’s the best thing ever. Like, how do they make it so good? I’m ready to take on the world. But then, I step outside, and it starts pouring. I mean, it’s like the sky opened up. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, drenched, thinking, “Great, just great.” I look around, and everyone’s running for cover. I’m laughing at the chaos. People slipping, sliding, and trying to stay dry. It’s like a scene from a comedy movie. So, I duck into this little shop on Rue de l’Église. It’s got all these cool local crafts. I’m browsing, and I find this wooden carving of a deer. I’m a forester, remember? I can’t resist. I buy it, feeling all proud. But then, I realize I have to carry it in the rain. Ugh! Finally, the rain stops, and I’m like, “Alright, time to head back.” I walk past the church, and it’s beautiful. The sun’s peeking out, and the whole place looks magical. I snap a quick pic for the ‘gram. Gotta show off my day, right? As I’m heading back to my truck, I see this group of kids playing soccer in a puddle. They’re laughing, splashing everywhere. I can’t help but smile. It reminds me of when I was a kid, just carefree and happy. I stop for a sec, just watching them. It’s moments like this that make all the craziness worth it. So, I finally get back to my truck, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t stop thinking about how wild today was. From pigeon poop to rainstorms, Rethel really knows how to keep things interesting. I’m driving home, and I’m just grateful. Grateful for the chaos, the laughter, and the little moments that make life so damn good. And that’s a wrap on my day in Rethel. Can’t wait to tell my buddies about it. They won’t believe half of it!
