Man, what a day! I swear, being an insurance investigator in Riom is like being in a never-ending rollercoaster. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, I hit up Rue de l'Horloge. It’s this cute little street with all these shops. I’m thinking coffee, croissant, you know, the usual. But nooo, the café’s closed! Like, who closes a café at 8 AM? I’m already fuming. I mean, c’mon, I need my caffeine fix to deal with the craziness of the day ahead. So, I grab a quick pastry from this random boulangerie. It’s decent, but I’m still grumpy. I head over to the Place de la République. It’s a nice square, but today it’s packed with tourists. I’m dodging people left and right. I’m like, “Excusez-moi!” but they just stare at me like I’m speaking Martian. Ugh, so annoying! Then, I get a call. My boss is like, “We got a case!” I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need.” Turns out, there’s been a suspicious fire at this old building on Rue de la République. I rush over, heart racing. I get there, and it’s a mess. Firefighters everywhere, smoke still lingering. I can’t believe it. I start talking to witnesses. This one guy, he’s all dramatic, saying he saw a shadowy figure run away. I’m like, “Dude, you sure it wasn’t just your imagination?” But he’s adamant. I mean, come on, it’s Riom, not Gotham City! While I’m there, I spot this cute little dog. It’s just chilling, wagging its tail. I’m like, “Aww, at least someone’s having a good day.” But then, the owner yanks the leash, and the poor pup yelps. I’m ready to throw down! Like, why you gotta be so rough? Anyway, I get back to the office, and I’m still buzzing from the fire scene. I start digging into the building’s history. Turns out, it was built in the 1800s. Crazy, right? I’m thinking about all the stories those walls could tell. But then, I find out it was also a hotspot for shady dealings. Great, just great. I’m piecing things together, and suddenly, I get a lead. Someone saw a suspicious van parked near the building. I’m like, “Finally, some action!” I rush over to the street where the van was spotted. It’s on Rue de la Paix. I’m scanning the area, and boom! There it is. But wait, it’s empty. I’m like, “Seriously?!” I’m about to give up when I notice a guy lurking nearby. He’s got this shifty look. My instincts kick in. I approach him, and he’s all nervous. I’m thinking, “This is it!” I start asking questions, and he spills. Turns out, he saw someone leaving the building right before the fire. I’m like, “Bingo!” But then, he gets all paranoid and bolts. I’m chasing him down the street, yelling, “Hey! Come back!” Finally, I lose him near the Parc de la Châtaigneraie. I’m panting, heart racing, and I’m like, “What just happened?” I can’t believe I just chased a dude through Riom. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I head back to my car, and I’m just sitting there, thinking about how wild this day was. I mean, one minute I’m sipping coffee, and the next I’m chasing down leads like some action hero. Riom, man. It’s got its charm, but it’s also full of surprises. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, it involves less running and more pastries. But knowing my luck? Yeah, right!
