Man, what a day! I swear, being a watchmaker in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins is like living in a movie. You know, the kind where everything goes wrong but somehow it’s hilarious? So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m late. Like, really late. I sprint down Rue de la Brière, dodging tourists like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. Seriously, why do they walk so slow? I mean, c’mon, it’s not a stroll in the park! Oh wait, it kinda is. Anyway, I finally get to my shop on Rue des Écoles, and guess what? The door’s locked! I’m fumbling with my keys, and I’m like, “Dude, get it together!” Once I’m in, I’m hit with the smell of old wood and metal. It’s comforting, ya know? But then, bam! My first customer of the day, this old guy, walks in. He’s got this ancient pocket watch that looks like it’s been through a war. I’m talking rust, dents, the whole shebang. He’s like, “Can you fix it?” I’m like, “Sure, but it’s gonna cost ya.” He looks at me like I just asked him to sell a kidney. So, I get to work, and while I’m at it, I’m thinking about how Saint-Brevin-les-Pins is such a gem. The beach is just a stone’s throw away, and the vibe here is so chill. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna live near the Atlantic? But then, I hear this loud crash outside. I rush to the window, and there’s a seagull, like, attacking a tourist’s ice cream. I can’t help but laugh. That bird’s got guts! Back to the watch. I’m deep in concentration, and suddenly, my buddy Pierre pops in. He’s always got some wild story. Today, he’s raving about the new café on Avenue de la République. Apparently, they’ve got the best croissants ever. I’m like, “Dude, I’m trying to fix a watch here!” But he’s relentless. “You gotta try it, man!” Finally, I finish the old guy’s watch. He’s stoked, and I’m feeling like a hero. But then, just as I’m about to close up for lunch, a lady storms in. She’s frantic, waving her wrist around like it’s on fire. “My watch! It’s broken!” I’m like, “Lady, chill! I just fixed one!” But I can’t say no. So, I dive back into the chaos of gears and springs. After what feels like an eternity, I fix her watch too. She’s all smiles, and I’m like, “Great, now I can finally eat!” But nooo, the universe has other plans. I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, seriously? I just wanted a baguette from that little shop on Rue de la Mer. So, I’m soaked, running to the café, and I finally get there. The croissants are as good as Pierre said. I’m munching away, feeling like life’s not so bad after all. But then, I see that same seagull again, eyeing my food. I’m like, “Not today, bird!” The day wraps up with me back in the shop, fixing a clock that’s been ticking wrong for ages. I’m exhausted but happy. Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, with its quirky streets and wild seagulls, never fails to surprise me. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Just another rollercoaster in the life of a watchmaker. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
