Man, what a day! I swear, being a charcoal burner in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire is never boring. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinking about the wood I gotta chop. But first, coffee. Gotta have that liquid gold. I hit up the little café on Rue de la République. Best croissants, no joke. So, I’m munching away, and this dude walks in. Looks like he just rolled outta bed. Hair all over the place. He orders a black coffee, no sugar. I’m like, “Bro, live a little!” But whatever, to each their own. After breakfast, I head to my spot near the Loire. The river’s looking all pretty, but I’m not here for the views. I’m here to make charcoal, baby! I start chopping wood, and it’s all good until I hear this loud crash. I look up, and some guy on a bike just wiped out on Avenue de la République. I mean, come on! You gotta watch where you’re going! I rush over, thinking he’s hurt. Turns out, he’s just embarrassed. I help him up, and he’s like, “Thanks, man. I thought I was gonna die!” I laugh and say, “Nah, just your pride.” We both chuckle, and he rides off. Then, I get back to work. I’m sweating like crazy, but it feels good. The smell of burning wood is kinda soothing, ya know? But then, outta nowhere, this lady walks by with her dog. Cute little thing, but it starts barking at me. I’m like, “Chill, pup! I’m not here to steal your bones!” The lady just rolls her eyes. After a while, I take a break. I sit on a bench by the river. The view is killer. I can see the Château de la Loire in the distance. It’s stunning, man. I think about how lucky I am to live here. But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Pierre. He’s like, “You coming to the market later?” I totally forgot! The market on Place de la République is legendary. Fresh veggies, local cheese, and don’t get me started on the pastries! I tell him I’ll be there. So, I finish up with the charcoal and head to the market. It’s packed! People everywhere, chatting, laughing. I grab some fresh tomatoes and a baguette. Can’t go wrong with that! Then, I spot this old man selling wine. He’s got this twinkle in his eye, like he knows all the secrets of the Loire. I can’t resist. I buy a bottle. As I’m walking back, I bump into that same bike guy again. He’s got a bandage on his knee now. I can’t help but laugh. “You really gotta watch out, man!” He just shakes his head, grinning. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted but happy. I pour myself a glass of that wine and sit on my porch. The sun’s setting, and the sky is all orange and pink. I think about the day. The crashes, the laughs, the market. Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, you crazy little town, you never fail to surprise me. And just like that, I’m ready for whatever tomorrow throws at me. Bring it on!
