Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a sharpener in Sallanches is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit the streets of Sallanches, and lemme tell ya, the vibe is electric. I’m cruisin’ down Rue de la République, and I see this old dude, probably 80, trying to cross the street. He’s got this cane, and I’m like, “C’mon, man, you got this!” But he’s moving slower than molasses in January. I’m just standing there, waiting, thinking, “Dude, I got sharpenin’ to do!” Finally, he makes it, and I’m like, “Phew, that was a close one!” Then, I get to my shop on Rue du Mont-Blanc. It’s a tiny place, but it’s mine. I got my tools all laid out, ready to make some blades shine. But guess what? My best sharpening stone is missing! Like, where the heck did it go? I’m searching everywhere, flipping over boxes, cursing under my breath. I swear, it’s like it sprouted legs and walked away. So, I’m fuming, right? I decide to take a breather and head to the bakery on Rue de la Gare. Best croissants in town, no joke. I grab one, and it’s warm and flaky. I take a bite, and it’s like a hug for my soul. But then, I spill coffee all over my shirt! Ugh! I’m standing there, looking like a mess, and the baker’s just laughing at me. I’m like, “Yeah, real funny, buddy.” After that, I head back to the shop, still grumpy. I’m sharpening knives, scissors, whatever comes my way. Then, this lady walks in, all frantic. She’s like, “I need this knife sharpened NOW!” I’m thinking, “Lady, chill, it’s just a knife.” But she’s got this wild look in her eyes. Turns out, she’s hosting a dinner party, and her guests are gonna be there in an hour. No pressure, right? So, I get to work, and I’m sharpening like a madman. I’m sweating, my hands are shaking, but I’m in the zone. I finish just in time, and she’s so grateful. She’s practically dancing out of the shop. I’m like, “Hey, at least I did something good today!” But then, as I’m cleaning up, I hear this loud crash outside. I rush to the window, and there’s a car accident on Avenue de la République! Some guy rear-ended another car. People are yelling, and I’m just standing there, heart racing. I’m thinking, “Man, this city is wild today!” Finally, I close up shop, and I’m walking home, still buzzing from the day. I pass by the park, and it’s packed with families, kids running around, dogs barking. It’s a nice sight, ya know? I sit on a bench for a sec, just soaking it all in. Sallanches is crazy, but it’s my crazy. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. I mean, where else can you sharpen knives, spill coffee, and witness a car crash all in one day? Just another day in the life of a sharpener, I guess.
