Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a sharpener in Soustons is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, Rue de la Plage. I’m set up, sharpening some fancy knives for this local chef. Dude’s all about that Michelin star life. He’s pacing around like a caged lion, and I’m just trying to focus. Suddenly, he drops a knife! Like, c’mon man, you’re a chef, not a clumsy toddler! I’m like, “Dude, chill! I got this.” But he’s sweating bullets. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by, tripping over his own feet. He knocks over my sharpening stone! I’m fuming. I mean, c’mon! I’m not a babysitter! I yell, “Watch where you’re going, kid!” He just laughs and runs off. Kids these days, right? After that chaos, I decide to take a breather. I stroll down to the market on Rue des Écoles. Man, the vibe there is always lit. Fresh fruits, veggies, and the smell of pastries wafting through the air. I grab a croissant, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a tomato. A TOMATO! I’m like, “Bro, it’s not a diamond!” Anyway, I’m munching on my croissant, feeling good again. But then, I hear this commotion. Turns out, there’s a street performer on Rue de la République. This dude’s juggling flaming torches! I’m like, “What the heck?!” I can barely juggle my own life, and this guy’s out here risking it all. I’m clapping, laughing, and then—BAM! One torch goes flying! Almost hits a lady! She’s screaming, and I’m just standing there, half-eating my croissant, half-worried. After that wild show, I head back to my spot. I’m sharpening away, and this old lady comes up. She’s got this ancient knife, like, it’s seen some things. She’s telling me stories about her grandma using it during the war. I’m all ears. It’s kinda heartwarming, ya know? Makes me forget about the chaos for a sec. But then, just when I think it’s all chill, the sky opens up. Rain pours down like it’s auditioning for a movie. I’m scrambling to cover my stuff. My sharpening tools are getting soaked! I’m cursing like a sailor. “Not today, rain! Not today!” So, I pack up and decide to head home. I’m walking down Avenue de la Plage, soaked to the bone, and I see this little café. I’m like, “Screw it, I need a coffee.” I walk in, and the barista’s this cool dude. He’s got tattoos and a beanie. We start chatting, and he’s telling me about the best surf spots around Soustons. I’m like, “Man, I need to hit those waves!” Finally, I get home, and I’m just done. I flop on my couch, still dripping wet. I think about the day—crazy, chaotic, but somehow, it was kinda awesome. Soustons, with its streets and vibes, always keeps me on my toes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Soustons. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
