Man, what a day! I woke up in Tarnos, and I swear, I thought it was just gonna be another boring Tuesday. But nah, life had other plans. First off, I’m an economist, right? So I’m usually buried in numbers and graphs. But today? Today was a rollercoaster. So, I’m strolling down Rue de la République, coffee in hand, feeling all fancy. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Yeah, today’s gonna be chill.” But then, BAM! I trip over a cobblestone. Like, who even put these here? I’m pretty sure they’re out to get me. I spill my coffee all over my favorite shirt. Great start, huh? I’m fuming, but whatever. I head to the market at Place de la Mairie. It’s bustling, people everywhere, and I’m dodging old ladies with their carts like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. I spot this cute little boulangerie. You know, the kind that smells like heaven? I grab a pain au chocolat. Best decision ever. I mean, who can be mad with chocolate in their life? But then, I overhear this convo. Some dude is ranting about the economy. Like, bro, I get it, inflation sucks. But he’s going on and on, and I’m just standing there, trying not to roll my eyes. I mean, I’m an economist, but I don’t need a lecture while I’m munching on my pastry! After that, I decide to take a walk along the beach. Tarnos has this beautiful stretch of sand, right? I’m walking, feeling the breeze, and suddenly, I see this kid building a sandcastle. It’s epic! I’m talking towers, moats, the whole shebang. I’m like, “Dude, you’re gonna be the next architect!” He just looks at me like I’m crazy. Kids, man. Then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my half-eaten pain au chocolat! I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” I’m chasing this bird down the beach, yelling, “Come back, you thief!” People are staring, and I’m just a grown man running after a bird. Classic. Finally, I give up and head to the local café on Avenue de la Côte. I need a drink. I order a glass of rosé, and it’s like the universe is finally on my side. I sit outside, soaking in the sun, and just chill. I start people-watching, which is my favorite pastime. There’s this couple arguing, and I’m like, “Y’all need to chill. It’s Tarnos, not a soap opera.” As the day winds down, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. Happy, angry, surprised—like a mixed bag of feelings. I think about how Tarnos is this little gem. It’s got its quirks, like the weird cobblestones and the seagulls with a vendetta, but it’s home. I head back, and as I walk down Rue des Écoles, I can’t help but smile. This city, man. It’s chaotic, it’s beautiful, and it’s full of surprises. I might’ve lost my pastry, but I gained a story. And honestly, that’s what life’s all about, right?
