Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in Verdun, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up Rue de la République for my morning coffee. You know, the usual spot. The barista, Pierre, he’s a legend. But today? He was all outta croissants! Like, what even?! I mean, c’mon, it’s France! I was ready to throw a fit. But I just grabbed my café au lait and tried to keep it together. Then, I had a meeting at the Mémorial de Verdun. Super important, right? I’m all about that history, but man, the traffic on Rue de la Gare was a nightmare. I swear, I was stuck behind this old lady driving 20 km/h. I was like, “Lady, it’s not a Sunday drive!” I was late, and my boss was gonna kill me. Finally, I made it. The memorial is stunning, though. You walk in, and it hits you. The weight of history, you know? But then, I get a call. My phone’s buzzing like crazy. It’s my coworker, and she’s like, “Dude, the data you sent? It’s all wrong!” My heart dropped. I was like, “Are you kidding me?!” I had spent hours on that report. So, I’m trying to focus on the memorial, but my mind’s racing. I’m thinking about how I’m gonna fix this mess. I mean, I love my job, but sometimes it feels like I’m juggling flaming swords. After the meeting, I needed a breather. I strolled down Rue de la Paix. It’s so pretty there, with all the trees and flowers. I took a deep breath, trying to chill. But then, I saw this street performer. He was playing the accordion, and honestly, it was kinda magical. I couldn’t help but smile. But then, outta nowhere, this pigeon swoops down and lands on my shoulder! I freaked out! Like, “Get off me, bird!” Everyone around was laughing. I was mortified but also kinda amused. I mean, who gets attacked by a pigeon in Verdun? After that, I decided to grab lunch at a little bistro on Rue des Écoles. The food was bomb! I had this amazing coq au vin. Like, I could’ve eaten three plates. But then, my phone buzzed again. It was my boss. “We need to talk about that report.” Ugh, the dread! I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to fix my mistakes. I was in the zone, typing away, when I realized I hadn’t even looked outside. I peeked out, and it was pouring rain! Like, where did that come from? I was stuck in the office, and it was a total downpour. Finally, I wrapped up my work and headed home. I walked along the banks of the Meuse River. The rain had stopped, and the sunset was gorgeous. I felt a bit better. Verdun can be beautiful, you know? But then, I stepped in a puddle. My shoes were soaked. I laughed it off. Just my luck, right? I got home, kicked off my shoes, and collapsed on the couch. What a day! I mean, from coffee disasters to pigeon attacks, it was a rollercoaster. But hey, that’s life in Verdun, I guess. Always something unexpected around the corner!
