Man, what a day! I swear, being a swineherd in Villeneuve-d'Ascq is never boring. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down Rue de la République. You know, the one that’s always buzzing with people? I’m just minding my own business, thinking about my pigs, when I see this dude juggling. Like, seriously? Juggling in the middle of the street? I mean, who does that? But hey, I’m all for entertainment, so I stop to watch. He drops a ball, and it rolls right to my feet. I pick it up, hand it back, and he’s like, “Thanks, mate!” I’m like, “No prob, just don’t drop it again, yeah?” Then, I’m walking past the Parc du Héron. Beautiful spot, right? But today, it’s packed with families. Kids running everywhere, screaming, and I’m just trying to enjoy the view. I see this little kid, maybe 5 or 6, chasing a duck. I’m thinking, “Dude, that duck’s gonna fly away!” And guess what? It does! The kid trips, falls, and starts crying. I can’t help but laugh a bit. I mean, come on! Ducks 1, Kid 0. After that, I decide to grab a bite at this little café on Rue des Acacias. I order a croissant and a coffee. Simple, right? But the waiter? Ugh, he takes forever! I’m sitting there, watching the clock, and I’m like, “C’mon, man! I got pigs to tend to!” Finally, he brings my order, but he spills coffee all over the table. I’m like, “Great, now I’m caffeinated AND sticky.” So, I finish up and head to the market at Place de l'Abbé Aerts. It’s bustling, full of fresh produce and all that jazz. I’m looking for some good feed for my pigs. I spot this vendor selling the best apples. I’m talking juicy, crunchy goodness. I grab a bag, and the guy says, “That’ll be 5 euros.” I hand him a 10, and he gives me back change like he’s handing me a gold bar. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just apples!” But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some guy on a bike just wiped out. I mean, he’s sprawled out on the ground, and I can’t help but chuckle. But then I see he’s hurt, and I’m like, “Oh man, that’s rough.” I rush over to help him up. He’s all like, “I’m fine, I’m fine!” But his bike? Total wreck. By now, I’m feeling a mix of emotions. Happy, angry, surprised—like a rollercoaster. I finally make my way back home, and I’m thinking about my pigs. They’re probably wondering where I’ve been. I get to my pen, and they’re all snorting, like, “Where’s our food, dude?” I toss them some feed, and they’re munching away, happy as can be. As I sit there, watching them, I realize that even with all the craziness, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. Villeneuve-d'Ascq might be wild, but it’s home. And hey, if I can survive a day like today, I can handle anything. So yeah, that was my day. Just another adventure in the life of a swineherd. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
