Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m an ichthyologist, right? Yeah, I know, sounds fancy. But today? Today was a wild ride in Villeneuve-Loubet. First off, I woke up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I scrambled outta bed, threw on whatever I could find. I mean, who needs matching socks anyway? Not me! I was supposed to meet my buddy, Pierre, at the marina. The sun was shining, and I was like, “Okay, let’s do this!” So, I hop on my bike, zooming down Rue des Combattants. The wind in my hair, feeling like a rockstar. But then, bam! I hit a pothole. My bike almost flipped. I swear, I nearly kissed the pavement. Not cool, Villeneuve-Loubet! Fix your roads, will ya? Finally, I get to the marina. Pierre’s already there, sipping coffee like he owns the place. I’m like, “Dude, you couldn’t wait?” He just laughs. Typical Pierre. We start chatting about fish, of course. I mean, that’s what we do. Did you know Villeneuve-Loubet has a rich marine life? Yeah, I’m talking about the Mediterranean vibes. We decide to take a boat out. The water was gorgeous, like a postcard. But then, outta nowhere, a storm rolls in. I’m talking dark clouds, wind howling. I’m like, “Seriously?!” We’re out there, trying to keep the boat steady. I’m yelling at Pierre, “This is NOT how I wanted my day to go!” After what felt like an eternity, we finally make it back. Soaked, but alive. I’m laughing, though. I mean, what else can you do? We hit up a café on Rue de la République. I order a croissant, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. Seriously, best croissant ever. But then, I see this guy. He’s fishing off the pier, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re in the wrong spot!” I mean, come on! The fish are over by the rocks near the Plage de la Figueirette. I can’t help myself. I walk over and give him some tips. He looks at me like I’m nuts. Whatever, man. After that, we stroll through the old town. The narrow streets, the cute little shops. I love it here. It’s like stepping back in time. But then, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me again! I’m on the ground, laughing at myself. Pierre’s just shaking his head. As the day winds down, we hit the beach. The sunset is insane. I mean, the colors! Orange, pink, all that jazz. I pull out my phone to snap a pic, and my battery dies. Ugh! Just my luck! But you know what? I don’t even care. I’m sitting there, sand between my toes, feeling grateful. Villeneuve-Loubet, with all its quirks, has a charm that gets to me. So yeah, it was a rollercoaster of a day. From bike crashes to stormy seas, to croissants and sunsets. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of an ichthyologist, right?
