Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in Yerres, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, all that cliché stuff. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up Rue de la République for my morning coffee. You know, the usual spot. The barista, Marie, she’s a legend. But today? She was all outta croissants. Like, what even?! I mean, who runs outta croissants in France? I was ready to throw a fit. But I just grabbed my café au lait and tried to keep it together. Then, I decided to stroll down by the Parc de la Mairie. It’s this cute little park, right? Perfect for people-watching. I plopped down on a bench, and guess what? This kid starts feeding the pigeons. And I’m like, “Dude, those birds are gonna mob you!” And they did! It was chaos. Feathers everywhere. I laughed so hard, I almost spilled my coffee. But then, outta nowhere, I get a text from my buddy, Lucas. He’s like, “Yo, meet me at the train station!” I’m thinking, “What’s the rush?” So I hustle over to Gare de Yerres. I’m dodging people, tripping over my own feet. Classic me. When I get there, Lucas is pacing like a madman. Turns out, he missed his train to Paris. I mean, come on! How do you miss a train in a tiny station like this? I was ready to roast him, but then he tells me he was gonna propose to his girlfriend. Aww, sweet, right? But now he’s freaking out. So, I’m like, “Dude, chill. We’ll figure it out.” We brainstorm ideas, and I’m throwing out the wildest suggestions. “What if you just do it here? In Yerres?” He looks at me like I’m nuts. But I’m serious! I mean, it’s a beautiful town. We end up wandering down Rue de la Gare, and I spot this perfect little spot by the river. The water’s glistening, and I’m like, “This is it!” Lucas is still nervous, but I’m hyping him up. “C’mon, man! You got this!” Finally, he decides to go for it. He gets down on one knee, and I’m just standing there, trying not to cry. It was so sweet! And guess what? She said yes! I’m jumping up and down like a fool. People are staring, but I don’t care. After that, we hit up a little bistro on Rue de la Fontaine. I’m starving, and they have the best steak frites. I order like I haven’t eaten in days. Lucas is still buzzing from the proposal, and I’m just happy for my food. But then, the waiter brings out my dish, and it’s… cold. Like, what the heck? I’m not one to complain, but I’m like, “Excuse me, this is not okay.” The waiter looks at me like I’m crazy. I mean, I’m in France! I expect my food to be hot and delicious. So, I send it back, and while I’m waiting, I start chatting with this old guy at the next table. He’s telling me stories about Yerres back in the day. Apparently, it used to be a big deal for artists. I’m thinking, “Wow, I should’ve been born in the wrong era.” Finally, my food comes back, and it’s perfect. I dig in like I’m starving. Lucas and I are laughing, reminiscing about the day. It’s been a rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. As the sun sets over Yerres, I realize how much I love this place. The streets, the people, the unexpected moments. It’s chaotic, but it’s home. I’m exhausted, but happy. What a day, right?
