Man, what a day! I swear, if I had a euro for every crazy thing that happened in Filiro today, I’d be rich. So, I roll outta bed, right? It’s like 5 AM, and I’m already dreading the milking shift. But hey, gotta pay the bills, ya know? I hop on my bike, zooming down Agios Nikolaos street. The sun’s barely up, and the air’s crisp. I’m thinking, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I get to the dairy farm, and the machine’s acting all funky. Like, c’mon! I’m not a mechanic! I’m just here to milk cows, not fix robots! I’m sweating bullets, trying to figure out what’s wrong. Finally, I just give it a good kick. Yeah, I know, not the best approach, but it worked! The machine whirred back to life, and I’m like, “See? Sometimes you just gotta show it who’s boss.” Then, while I’m milking, I hear this loud commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a bunch of kids playing soccer on the street. They’re yelling and laughing, and I can’t help but smile. Reminds me of when I was a kid, running around on Kallithea street, not a care in the world. But then, bam! One of the kids kicks the ball too hard, and it smashes into the barn door. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed!” After that, I’m back to milking, and I swear, one of the cows looks at me like she’s judging my life choices. I’m like, “Listen, Bessie, you’re not exactly living the dream either.” But then she lets out this huge moo, and I can’t help but laugh. It’s like she’s trying to cheer me up or something. Around noon, I take a break and head to the local taverna on Eleftherias square. I’m starving! I order a souvlaki, and while I’m waiting, I chat with the owner, old man Dimitris. He’s got the best stories. He tells me about the time he tried to catch a goat that escaped. I’m dying laughing. “You should’ve seen me, running down the street like a madman!” Classic Dimitris. But then, outta nowhere, this storm rolls in. I mean, it’s sunny one minute, and the next, it’s pouring! I dash back to the farm, soaked to the bone. My milking machine’s still working, but now I’m just trying to keep everything dry. It’s chaos! I’m slipping around, trying not to fall. I’m like, “This is not how I pictured my day!” Finally, after what feels like an eternity, I finish up. I’m exhausted but kinda proud. I survived the day! I hop back on my bike, and as I’m pedaling home, I pass by the old church on the corner of Agios Georgios. It’s beautiful, man. The way the light hits the stones, it’s like something outta a movie. I get home, and I’m just done. I flop on the couch, thinking about how wild today was. Filiro, you crazy little town, you never fail to surprise me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, even with all the madness. So yeah, that was my day. Just another day in Filiro, full of cows, chaos, and a whole lotta heart. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
