Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a bouncer in Polykastro is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. One minute you’re chillin’, the next you’re dodging drama like it’s a game of dodgeball. So, I roll into work at this club on Egnatia Street, right? It’s a hot night, and the air’s thick with excitement. I’m thinkin’, “Tonight’s gonna be easy-peasy.” Ha! Yeah, right. First off, I gotta deal with this dude. He’s tryin’ to sneak in with a bottle of ouzo. Like, c’mon man, we ain’t in some back alley tavern! I’m like, “Bro, you can’t bring that in here.” He looks at me like I just insulted his mother. I mean, it’s just a bottle, but rules are rules, ya know? Then, there’s this group of girls from Thessaloniki. They’re all giggles and glitter, and I’m thinkin’, “Great, they’ll be fun.” But then one of ‘em trips on the cobblestones of Agios Nikolaos Street. I swear, it was like watching a slow-motion train wreck. She goes down, and her friends scream like they just saw a ghost. I rush over, and she’s fine, just a little embarrassed. I help her up, and she’s like, “Thanks, big guy!” I’m like, “No prob, just doin’ my job.” But then, outta nowhere, this guy starts yellin’. He’s on the corner of 25th Martiou Street, and he’s got a beef with the world. I can’t even understand what he’s sayin’. Something about his ex and a cat? I’m just tryin’ to keep the peace, but he’s not havin’ it. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just a night out!” But he’s all fired up. Finally, I get him to calm down. I mean, I’m not a therapist, but I can listen. He starts talkin’ about how he moved to Polykastro for a fresh start. I get it, man. This town’s got charm. The old train station, the little cafes on the square, the way the sun sets over the hills. But dude, you gotta let it go! Then, just when I think it’s all settled, a fight breaks out. Like, seriously? Right in front of the bakery on the corner of Kallithea? I rush over, and it’s two guys, both too drunk to stand straight. I’m like, “What are you even fighting about?” They just keep swingin’. I’m dodging punches like I’m in some action movie. Finally, I get ‘em apart. I’m outta breath, but I’m feelin’ like a hero. I tell ‘em, “You wanna fight? Take it outside!” They look at me like I’m crazy, but they back off. Thank goodness! By the end of the night, I’m exhausted. I’m sittin’ on a bench by the park, just tryin’ to catch my breath. The stars are out, and it’s quiet. I think about how wild Polykastro can be. It’s a small town, but man, the energy is unreal. I head home, and I can’t help but smile. Yeah, it was a crazy day, but that’s what makes it worth it. I love this place, even with all the madness. Polykastro, you keep me on my toes!
