Man, what a day! I woke up in Serres, Greece, and thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m an ichthyologist, right? Fish are my jam. But today? Today was all about the chaos. I hit the streets of Serres, ready to check out the local fish market. You know, the one on Egnatia Street? Yeah, that place is a treasure trove. But when I got there, it was like a scene from a bad movie. Fish everywhere, people yelling, and the smell? Ugh, let’s just say it was “fishy” in the worst way. I was trying to chat with this old dude selling sardines. He was super passionate, but I couldn’t hear him over the chaos. I mean, come on! I’m trying to learn here! He kept waving his hands, and I’m like, “Dude, chill! I just wanna know about your fish!” But nah, he was on a roll. I got a bit annoyed, not gonna lie. Then, I decided to take a breather and hit up the local café on Vasilissis Sofias Street. Best decision ever! I ordered a freddo cappuccino, and it was like a hug in a cup. Seriously, I could’ve cried. But then, I spilled it all over my notes. Great. Just great. Now my research on the local fish species is a soggy mess. After that, I thought, “Let’s go see the ancient ruins.” You know, the ones near the Kasta Tomb? I’ve always wanted to check that out. So I’m walking, and I’m feeling all philosophical, thinking about how ancient Greeks probably fished in the same waters I study. But then, I got lost. Like, seriously lost. I ended up on some random street, and I swear, I saw a cat that looked like it was judging me. Finally, I found my way back. The ruins were cool, but I was still salty about my coffee disaster. I mean, how do you mess up a simple coffee order? I was ready to throw a fit. But then, I saw this little kid feeding the ducks by the river. It was adorable! I couldn’t help but smile. Kids and ducks, man. Pure joy. But then, outta nowhere, this group of teenagers started blasting music. Like, really loud. I’m trying to enjoy the moment, and they’re over there rapping about… I don’t even know what. I was torn between wanting to join in and wanting to throw my hands up in despair. As the sun started to set, I decided to head back. I walked down Dimokratias Street, and it was beautiful. The colors were insane! But then, I tripped on a cobblestone. Classic me, right? I almost face-planted. I laughed it off, though. Gotta keep it light, ya know? By the time I got home, I was exhausted. My brain was a mess of fish facts, spilled coffee, and random cat encounters. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Serres is wild, and I love it. It’s got this vibe that’s just… electric. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
