Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Kastav is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I grab my coffee at that little joint on Šetalište, you know the one? The one with the weirdly good pastries. I’m all set to tackle the day. But then, bam! I spill my coffee all over my favorite jacket. Great start, huh? I’m like, “Really, universe? You wanna play this game?” So, I head over to the auction house on Trg Matije Gupca. It’s a cozy spot, but man, it gets packed. I’m talkin’ shoulder-to-shoulder with folks. And let me tell ya, the energy is wild. Everyone’s buzzing, and I’m feelin’ it. I’m up there, ready to rock the mic, and then I see this old dude in the back. He’s got this crazy look in his eyes. Like, he’s seen some stuff, ya know? I start the auction, and it’s all good vibes until I hit this vintage wine collection. Suddenly, the old dude starts yelling, “I’ll give you my left leg for that!” I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just wine!” But he’s serious. I mean, who trades a leg for a bottle? Kastav’s got some characters, lemme tell ya. Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Marko shows up. He’s late, as usual. He’s runnin’ down Ulica Kralja Tomislava, trippin’ over his own feet. Classic Marko. He bursts in, all outta breath, and shouts, “Did I miss the good stuff?” I’m like, “Bro, you missed the leg trade!” The crowd’s crackin’ up, and I’m tryin’ to keep it together. I mean, Kastav is a small town, but the people here? They’re legends. We’ve got the best stories. Like, remember that time the mayor tried to auction off his old bike? Hilarious! Anyway, the auction rolls on, and I’m feelin’ pumped. I’m throwin’ out bids like confetti. But then, I notice this lady in the front row. She’s got this intense stare, like she’s sizing me up. I’m thinkin’, “What’s her deal?” Turns out, she’s a collector. She’s got her eye on this ancient vase. I can feel the tension. I’m like, “Going once, going twice…” and she’s just staring me down. I’m sweating bullets. Finally, she bids, and it’s a big one! I’m like, “Whoa, Kastav’s got some serious cash flow!” But then, the old dude pipes up again, “I’ll trade you my other leg!” I can’t even. The auction wraps up, and I’m exhausted. But then, I step outside, and the view from Kastav is just breathtaking. The hills, the old stone houses, the vibe. It’s like, all the craziness fades away. I take a deep breath, and I’m like, “This is why I do this.” But wait, it gets better! I run into my old high school buddy, Luka, down by the fountain on Ulica Školji. He’s got this wild idea to start a food truck. I’m like, “Dude, you can barely cook!” But he’s all fired up. We end up chatting for hours, laughing about the good ol’ days. By the time I head home, I’m a mix of emotions. Happy, tired, a bit angry about the coffee spill, but mostly grateful. Kastav, man. It’s a wild ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, beautiful day in Kastav. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
