Man, what a day! I swear, being a cashier in Koprivnica can be a wild ride. So, I roll into work at this little shop on Trg bana Josipa Jelačića, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First customer walks in. This dude, I swear, he’s got a cart full of stuff. Like, who needs 10 packs of instant noodles? I mean, I get it, they’re cheap, but c’mon! He’s chatting away about the weather like we’re best buds. I’m just trying to scan his stuff, and he’s like, “Did you see the new park on Ulica Frana Galovića?” I’m like, “Yeah, it’s nice, but can you hurry up?” Then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Just poof! Darker than my coffee on a Monday morning. I’m standing there, holding a bag of chips like it’s a lifeline. Customers start freaking out. One lady’s like, “What do we do now?” I’m like, “Uh, I dunno, maybe we can all just sit here and contemplate life?” Finally, the lights flicker back on. Thank goodness! But then, this old guy comes in. He’s got a cane and a look that says he’s seen some stuff. He’s trying to pay with coins. Like, a whole bag of coins. I’m standing there, counting them one by one, and he’s telling me about the good ol’ days on Ulica Križančevac. I’m thinking, “Dude, I wasn’t even born then!” After that, I get a break. I step outside to grab a quick bite. The smell of ćevapi from a nearby stand is calling my name. I’m munching away, feeling good, when I see a bunch of kids playing football on the street. They’re yelling and laughing, and I’m like, “Man, I miss those days.” But then, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some guy just knocked over a whole display of flowers outside the shop. I’m like, “Seriously? It’s a flower shop, not a demolition site!” The owner is losing it, and I’m just standing there, trying not to laugh. Back inside, the line is out the door. I’m scanning items like a machine. This one lady comes up with a cart full of stuff, and I’m thinking, “Great, another marathon.” She starts chatting about the new café on Ulica Školskog prijateljstva. I’m nodding, but inside I’m like, “Can we just get through this?” Then, this kid runs in, all excited. He’s got a balloon and is yelling about the fair at the park. I’m like, “Dude, that sounds awesome! Can I come?” But of course, I can’t. I’m stuck here, living the cashier life. Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted but kinda happy. I mean, Koprivnica is a cool place. The vibe, the people, the little quirks. I love it, even when it drives me nuts. As I’m closing up, I think about all the craziness. The power outage, the coins, the flowers. It’s all part of the gig, right? I grab my bag and head out, ready to face whatever tomorrow brings. Because in Koprivnica, you never know what’s gonna happen next!
