Man, what a day! I swear, Pozega really knows how to throw a curveball. Woke up this mornin’ thinkin’ it’d be just another chill day. Boy, was I wrong. So, I’m a firefighter, right? Yeah, the kinda job that keeps ya on your toes. I roll outta bed, grab my coffee from that little café on Trg sv. Terezije. You know the one? Best espresso in town! Anyway, I’m sippin’ my coffee, and boom! My phone buzzes. “Fire at the old mill on Ulica Kralja Tomislava!” Great. Just what I needed. I chug the rest of my coffee and dash out. The streets are packed, like always. Pozega’s got this vibe, ya know? Old buildings, new life. But today? Today it felt like chaos. I get to the mill, and it’s a freakin’ inferno. Flames are shootin’ up like they’re tryin’ to reach the sky. I’m thinkin’, “What the hell happened here?” Turns out, some dude was tryin’ to cook up a storm and set the place ablaze. Genius, right? So, I’m runnin’ around, shoutin’ orders, and my heart’s racin’. I see this old lady, Mrs. Novak, from down the street. She’s standin’ there, eyes wide, lookin’ like she’s seen a ghost. I run over, “Mrs. Novak, you gotta move back!” She’s like, “But my cat’s inside!” I’m like, “Lady, we’ll get the cat, but you gotta get to safety!” Finally, we get her out, and I’m feelin’ like a hero. But then, I hear this loud crash. A part of the roof just collapsed. My stomach drops. I’m thinkin’, “This is it. This is how I go.” But nah, I’m not ready to meet my maker yet. We manage to get the fire under control, but not before it wrecks half the mill. I’m drenched in sweat, covered in soot, and my heart’s still poundin’. I look around, and the crowd’s clappin’. Like, really? You’re clappin’ for me? I’m just doin’ my job! After all that, I head over to the park by the river, you know, the one near Ulica Stjepana Radića? I need a breather. I sit on a bench, and this kid comes up to me. “Are you a superhero?” he asks. I laugh, “Nah, just a guy with a hose.” Kids, man. They see the world differently. Then, I spot my buddy Marko. He’s got this huge grin on his face. “Dude, you won’t believe what just happened!” I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, he won a local poker game at that bar on Ulica Ante Starčevića. He’s all pumped, and I’m just sittin’ there, still tryin’ to process the day. But then, I get a text. “Another fire at the old church!” Are you kidding me? I just wanna chill! But nope, duty calls. I’m back in the truck, sirens blarin’, and I’m thinkin’, “Pozega, you’re killin’ me!” We get to the church, and it’s not as bad as the mill. Just some kids messin’ around with fireworks. Seriously? Fireworks? In a church? I’m ready to lose it. But I keep my cool. “Hey, kids! You think this is a game?” They look scared, and I’m like, “Good. You should be.” After we wrap that up, I finally head home. I’m exhausted, but there’s this weird satisfaction in me. Pozega’s wild, man. It’s got its quirks, its charm, and its chaos. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another day in Pozega. Full of surprises, a bit of drama, and a whole lotta heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
