Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Kalocsa is like riding a rollercoaster. So, I roll up to the beach at the Danube, right? It’s a sunny day, perfect for chillin’ and catchin’ some rays. But nah, not today. First off, I’m settin’ up my spot on Fő utca, and I see this kid, like, 10 years old, runnin’ around like a maniac. He’s got a water gun, and he’s sprayin’ everyone. I’m like, “Dude, chill! This ain’t a water park!” But he just laughs and keeps goin’. I mean, c’mon, it’s not even noon yet! Then, outta nowhere, this lady starts yellin’ from the other side of the beach. She’s on Kossuth Lajos utca, and she’s lost her sunglasses. Like, really? You’re gonna scream about shades? I’m tryin’ to keep an eye on the water, and she’s makin’ a scene. I’m thinkin’, “Lady, it’s not like they’re gonna swim away!” So, I’m tryin’ to focus, right? But then I see this group of teens on the other side, and they’re doin’ backflips off the pier. I’m like, “Yo, that’s cool, but don’t break your neck!” I mean, I’m all for fun, but safety first, people! Then, the unexpected hits. A storm rolls in. Outta nowhere! One minute, it’s sunny, and the next, it’s like someone flipped a switch. The wind picks up, and I’m like, “Oh snap, time to clear the beach!” I’m blowin’ my whistle like a madman, shoutin’ at everyone to get outta the water. And guess what? The kid with the water gun? He’s still sprayin’ people! I’m like, “Bro, you’re gonna get struck by lightning!” But he just laughs and runs off. Kids these days, man. So, I’m tryin’ to herd everyone to safety, and I spot this old dude on a bench by the river. He’s just sittin’ there, lookin’ at the storm like it’s a movie. I’m thinkin’, “Dude, you’re gonna get soaked!” But he just waves me off. Classic Kalocsa, right? Finally, the storm passes, and it’s like a scene from a movie. The sun comes back out, and the sky is all dramatic with those dark clouds still hangin’ around. I’m feelin’ kinda proud, like I saved the day or somethin’. But then, I see the teens again. They’re backflippin’ off the pier again! I’m like, “Seriously? Didn’t we just go through a storm?” But whatever, I guess they’re just livin’ their best lives. As the day winds down, I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, watchin’ the sunset over the Danube. It’s beautiful, man. The colors are insane. I’m thinkin’ about how wild today was. From lost sunglasses to storms and backflips, Kalocsa never disappoints. I pack up my stuff, ready to head home. I’m exhausted but happy. I love this job, even with all the craziness. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I’ll finally get to chill without the chaos. But knowing Kalocsa, that’s a long shot!
