Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a bartender in Sopron is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I roll into work at this cozy little joint on Fő tér, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m behind the bar, and this dude walks in. I swear, he looked like he just ran a marathon. Turns out, he did! He was all sweaty and outta breath, talkin’ about some race in the vineyards near Sopron. I mean, who runs in this heat? But hey, he orders a cold beer, and I’m like, “You earned it, champ!” Then, outta nowhere, this group of tourists strolls in. They’re all excited, takin’ pics of everything. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just a bar.” But they’re snapping shots of the old wooden beams and the vintage wine bottles. I guess they don’t have bars like this back home. I mean, we’re talkin’ about a place that’s been around since the Middle Ages! Crazy, right? So, I’m pouring drinks, and suddenly, the power goes out. Just like that! I’m standin’ there in the dark, and all I can think is, “Great, now I’m a bartender in a horror movie.” But then, the tourists start singing some Hungarian folk song. I’m not even kidding! They’re belting it out like they’re at a concert. I’m just there, half-laughing, half-terrified. When the lights finally flicker back on, I’m relieved. But then, I see this lady at the end of the bar. She’s got this look on her face like she just lost her best friend. Turns out, she dropped her phone in her drink. I mean, c’mon! Who does that? I try to cheer her up, sayin’, “Hey, at least it’s not a wine spritzer!” She didn’t laugh. Tough crowd. Then, my buddy László shows up. He’s always got some wild story. Today, he’s raving about this hidden gem of a restaurant on Kossuth Lajos utca. Apparently, they serve the best gulyás in the whole city. I’m like, “Dude, I’m working! But now I’m hungry!” He just laughs and orders a pálinka. Classic László. As the night rolls on, the bar fills up. I’m pouring shots, mixing cocktails, and trying to keep up with the chaos. There’s this one guy who keeps ordering the same drink, a “Soproni” beer, and he’s getting louder with each round. I’m thinkin’, “Bro, chill! You’re not the king of Sopron!” But hey, it’s all in good fun. Then, out of nowhere, this couple walks in. They’re clearly on a date, and they’re all lovey-dovey. I’m pouring their drinks, and I can’t help but roll my eyes. But then, they start talking about how they met at the Firewatch Tower. I mean, that’s kinda cute, right? I guess love is in the air, even in a bar. But then, the night takes a turn. A fight breaks out! I’m like, “Seriously? In my bar?” It’s two guys arguing over some stupid football match. I’m trying to break it up, but they’re not listening. Finally, I just yell, “Hey! You wanna take this outside?!” They stop, look at me, and then just start laughing. I guess they realized how ridiculous they looked. By the end of the night, I’m exhausted. I clean up the bar, and as I’m locking up, I take a moment to look around. Sopron is beautiful at night. The old buildings, the cobblestone streets, the lights twinkling. It’s a vibe. I love this city, even with all its craziness. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. Just another day in the life of a bartender in Sopron. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
