Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Szikszo is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I grab my coffee from that little joint on Kossuth Lajos utca. You know the one? The barista there, Zsófia, she’s a legend. She knows my order by heart. I’m like, “Yo, Zsófia, hit me with the usual!” And she’s like, “You mean the ‘I need caffeine or I’ll die’ special?” Classic. But then, she spills a bit on my shirt. Great start, right? I’m already lookin’ like a mess. So, I rush over to the auction house on Rákóczi Ferenc utca. The place is buzzing. People everywhere, like ants on a sugar hill. I’m setting up, and my mind’s racing. I’m thinkin’ about the vintage wine collection we’re auctioning off today. I mean, who doesn’t wanna bid on a bottle that’s older than your grandma? But then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, László. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe this!” I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, he’s stuck in traffic on Munkás utca. I’m like, “Bro, it’s a straight shot! How are you stuck?” He’s all, “Some guy’s car broke down. It’s a mess!” I’m fuming. I need him here to help with the bids. Finally, the auction starts. I’m pumped! I’m up there, doing my thing, and the crowd’s hyped. I’m calling out bids like a madman. “Do I hear 10,000 for this beauty?” And then, outta nowhere, this old lady in the front row yells, “I’ll give you my cat!” I’m like, “Lady, I appreciate the offer, but I’m not trading fine wine for a cat!” The crowd cracks up. But then, it gets wild. A guy in the back starts shouting. “I’ll give you 15,000!” I’m like, “Whoa, slow down, buddy!” Turns out, he’s a local wine connoisseur. He’s got a reputation for overbidding. I’m thinkin’, “This guy’s gonna break the bank!” As the bids keep flying, I spot my ex, Anna, in the crowd. Great. Just what I need. She’s there, looking all fabulous, and I’m standing here in a coffee-stained shirt. I’m trying to focus, but my mind’s racing. “Why’s she here? Is she gonna bid? Is she gonna make me look bad?” Then, the moment of truth. The last bottle comes up. It’s a 1965 Tokaji. I can feel the tension. Bids are flying. “20,000! 25,000!” I’m losing it. I’m sweating bullets. Finally, it goes for 30,000! The crowd goes wild! I’m pumped, but then I see Anna clapping. Ugh, why’s she gotta be so supportive? After the auction, I’m on cloud nine. I’m counting the cash, feeling like a rockstar. But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Seriously? I just had the best day, and now I’m drenched. I’m sprinting down Széchenyi utca, dodging puddles like I’m in some action movie. I finally make it to my car, soaked but happy. I’m thinkin’ about the day, the bids, the laughter, and even the chaos. Szikszo, man, it’s a wild place. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of madness. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional ride in Szikszo. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
