Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Abepura is wild. Like, I woke up thinkin’ it’d be just another ride, but nah, not today. So, I’m chillin’ at my pad on Jalan Raya Abepura, sippin’ my kopi, right? Just me and my thoughts. Then, boom! My phone buzzes. It’s my trainer, all hyped up. “Get to the track, NOW!” he says. I’m like, “Dude, chill!” But I know better than to mess with him. I hop on my bike, zoomin’ through the streets. Man, Abepura’s got some crazy traffic. I swear, I almost hit a chicken. Like, c’mon, dude! You gotta watch where you’re crossin’! Finally, I get to the track. It’s packed! People everywhere, shoutin’, laughin’, and I’m just tryin’ to find my horse, Bintang. He’s my baby, ya know? But he’s not in his stall. I’m freakin’ out. “Where’s Bintang?!” I’m runnin’ around like a headless chicken. Turns out, he’s out back, munchin’ on some grass. I’m like, “Bro, we got a race!” He looks at me like, “Chill, man. I’m livin’ my best life.” I can’t even be mad. So, we finally get ready. The crowd’s buzzin’. I can feel the energy. I’m pumped! But then, outta nowhere, it starts rainin’. Like, seriously? It’s sunny one minute, and then it’s a monsoon. I’m slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place. But I’m not lettin’ that stop me. I get on Bintang, and we’re off! The track’s a mess, mud everywhere. I’m thinkin’, “This is gonna be a disaster.” But Bintang? He’s a champ. He’s like, “Let’s do this!” We’re flyin’ down Jalan Raya Abepura, and I’m feelin’ like a rockstar. The crowd’s goin’ wild, and I’m just tryin’ to keep it together. But then, I see this dude in the stands, shoutin’ my name. I’m like, “Who even are you?” But it’s cool. I wave, tryin’ to look all cool and collected. Then, BAM! I hit a puddle, and we’re splashed with mud. I’m laughin’ so hard, I can’t breathe. Bintang’s just trottin’ along, like, “What’s the big deal?” We cross the finish line, and I’m pumped! We did it! I’m high-fivin’ everyone, and then I see my trainer. He’s lookin’ at me like I just won the lottery. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just a race!” But he’s all, “Nah, man. You don’t get it.” After that, we head to a warung nearby on Jalan Abepura. I’m starvin’. I order some nasi goreng, and it’s the best thing ever. I’m chattin’ with the locals, and they’re all like, “You’re the jockey, right?” I’m like, “Yeah, that’s me!” But then, I overhear some guys talkin’ about a new track opening up in Jayapura. I’m like, “What?!” I can’t believe it. I’m feelin’ all kinds of emotions. Excited, nervous, angry. Like, why didn’t I know about this? So, I finish my food, and I’m headin’ home. The streets are lit up, and I’m just thinkin’ about the day. Abepura, man. It’s got its ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I get home, crash on my bed, and just smile. What a day. What a freakin’ day.
