Yo, lemme tell ya about my crazy day in Batam. Man, it was wild! I woke up in my hotel on Jl. Yos Sudarso, and I was like, “Today’s gonna be epic!” Spoiler alert: it was, but not in the way I thought. First off, I hit up this local warung for breakfast. Nasi goreng, baby! The smell was insane. I mean, who knew fried rice could smell that good? I was chowing down, and this dude next to me starts talking about the best karaoke spots in Batam. I’m like, “Bro, I’m a musician, not a karaoke star!” But he was so hyped, I couldn’t help but laugh. After breakfast, I decided to stroll down Jl. Teuku Umar. The vibe was chill, but then BAM! Outta nowhere, this street vendor starts yelling about fresh durians. I’m like, “No way, man! Not durians!” I swear, those things smell like feet. But curiosity got the best of me, so I bought one. Big mistake. I took a bite, and it was like eating a creamy onion. Ugh! I almost spit it out right there. Then, I headed to Batam Center. I wanted to check out the mall. Thought I’d find some cool gear. But nah, it was just a bunch of overpriced stuff. I mean, c’mon! I’m not dropping my cash on a t-shirt that costs more than my lunch. So I just walked around, people-watching. There was this kid dancing in the middle of the mall. He was killing it! I felt inspired, so I pulled out my guitar and started jamming. Suddenly, security rolls up. I’m thinking, “Oh great, here we go.” But they just smiled and said, “Keep playing, man!” I was like, “What? For real?” So I played a few more songs, and people started gathering. It was a mini-concert! I felt like a rockstar for a hot minute. But then, outta nowhere, it started pouring. I mean, like, monsoon-level rain. I grabbed my stuff and dashed for cover. I ended up in this little café on Jl. Diponegoro. The coffee was bomb, but the Wi-Fi was slower than a turtle on a lazy day. I tried to post a video of my impromptu show, but it kept buffering. I was like, “C’mon, Batam! Get it together!” After the rain, I decided to hit up the beach. I went to Nongsa Beach. The sunset was insane! Like, Instagram-worthy for sure. I was just chillin’, strumming my guitar, feeling all the good vibes. But then, I saw this group of tourists trying to take a selfie. They were struggling, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, how hard is it to take a pic? So, I offered to help. Next thing I know, I’m in their selfie, and they’re all like, “You’re famous now!” I was like, “Yeah, right! I’m just a dude with a guitar.” But it felt good to connect with people, ya know? As the night rolled in, I headed back to my hotel. I was exhausted but happy. I thought about all the random stuff that happened. Batam is wild, man. It’s got this energy that just pulls you in. I mean, one minute you’re eating durian, the next you’re jamming in a mall, and then you’re taking selfies with tourists. I crashed in my room, thinking about how tomorrow’s gonna be even crazier. Batam, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait for more adventures!
