Man, what a day! Bukittinggi, you wild city! I woke up, and the sun was already blasting. I mean, c’mon, it’s like it was trying to roast me alive. I grabbed my coffee from that little warung on Jl. Yos Sudarso. Best coffee ever, no joke. So, I’m chugging my caffeine, and I’m like, “Let’s do this!” I had a live ad gig at Jam Gadang. You know, that giant clock tower? It’s like the heart of Bukittinggi. Everyone’s there, tourists snapping pics, locals just chillin’. I set up my stuff, and boom! My mic decides to go all diva on me. Like, seriously? Right before I’m about to go live? I’m sweating bullets, trying to fix it. People are staring. I’m like, “Hey, it’s not me, it’s the mic!” Finally, I get it working. Phew! I start my pitch, and the crowd’s vibing. I’m throwing in some local slang, and they’re eating it up. “C’mon, guys! Who wants to try this amazing rendang?” Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up. He’s like, “Mister, can I have some?” I’m like, “Sure, buddy! But only if you promise to share with your friends!” He grins, and I’m like, “Aww, man, this is why I love Bukittinggi!” But then, the weather turns. Dark clouds roll in. I’m thinking, “No way, not now!” And then, bam! Rain starts pouring. I’m scrambling to cover my gear. People are laughing, and I’m just standing there, drenched. I mean, who needs a shower when you can get rained on in Bukittinggi, right? After the rain, the air smells fresh. I love that! I head over to Jl. Soekarno-Hatta. There’s this street vendor selling keripik balado. I can’t resist! I grab a bag, and it’s spicy as heck. My mouth’s on fire, but I’m loving it. I’m like, “This is Bukittinggi! Spicy and full of surprises!” Then, I decide to hit up Ngarai Sianok. The view is insane! I’m standing there, and it hits me. This place is beautiful. The green hills, the river flowing. I whip out my phone for a pic, and guess what? My battery dies. Ugh! Just my luck! I’m walking back, feeling all philosophical. Like, life’s a rollercoaster, right? One minute you’re on top, the next you’re soaked and phone-less. But that’s Bukittinggi for ya! Full of ups and downs. I finally make it back to my hotel, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t stop smiling. This city, man. It’s got character. I flop onto my bed, thinking about all the craziness. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Bukittinggi, you’ve got my heart! And that’s a wrap on my wild day. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
