Man, what a day! I swear, Depok really knows how to throw a curveball. Woke up this mornin’ on my boat, feelin’ all chill, ya know? But then, boom! My phone buzzes. My buddy, Rudi, texts me, “Yo, let’s hit Depok today!” I’m like, “Sure, why not?” Little did I know, it was gonna be a wild ride. So, I hop on the train at Depok Baru station. The vibe is lit, but the crowd? Ugh, packed like sardines! I’m squished between this dude who smells like he just swam in a fish market and a lady with a baby who’s wailing like it’s the end of the world. I’m thinkin’, “Great start, right?” Finally, I get off at Margonda Raya. Man, that street is always buzzing! I’m walkin’ down, and I see this street vendor sellin’ nasi goreng. My stomach’s like, “Feed me!” So, I grab a plate. Best decision ever! Spicy, savory, just the way I like it. I’m munchin’ away, and this random cat strolls by, lookin’ at me like I owe it money. I laugh and say, “Chill, buddy, I ain’t got any fish for ya!” Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, like, monsoon-level rain! I’m soaked in seconds. I duck into a nearby café on Jalan Raya, tryin’ to dry off. The barista’s cool, though. He hands me a hot cup of kopi Depok. I’m sippin’ it, and it’s like a warm hug. But then, I see this guy at the next table. He’s on his laptop, and I swear he’s watchin’ cat videos. I can’t help but chuckle. Like, dude, get a life! After the rain chills out, I decide to explore. I wander over to the Depok Town Square. It’s packed with people, and there’s this live band playin’. I’m feelin’ the groove, so I start dancin’ like nobody’s watchin’. But then, I trip over my own feet and almost faceplant. Classic me, right? Everyone laughs, and I just gotta own it. I bow like I’m a rockstar. But then, I get mad. I see some dude littering. Like, come on, man! This is Depok, not a trash can! I shout, “Hey! Pick that up!” He just gives me a look like I’m crazy. Whatever, I’m not lettin’ that ruin my vibe. Next, I hit up the local market on Jalan Siliwangi. It’s a treasure trove! Fresh fruits, spices, you name it. I grab some manggis and rambutan. The vendors are super friendly, crackin’ jokes. I’m laughin’ and haggling like a pro. “C’mon, bro, give me a better price!” As the sun starts settlin’, I stroll by the river. The view is stunning. I take a moment to breathe it all in. The sunset paints the sky orange and pink. It’s peaceful, and I’m feelin’ grateful. But then, I hear this loud honking. A motorcycle zooms by, almost splashing me! I’m like, “Dude, chill! This ain’t a racetrack!” Finally, I wrap up my day at a warung on Jalan Raya. I order some sate and a cold Bintang. Life is good. I sit back, watchin’ the world go by. People laughin’, kids playin’, and I’m just there, takin’ it all in. As I head back to the train, I can’t help but smile. Depok, you crazy city, you’ve got my heart. I’m exhausted but happy. What a day! Can’t wait to do it all over again.
