Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in Dompu, right? The sun was blazing, and I was like, “Ugh, another day in paradise.” But lemme tell ya, it was anything but chill. First off, I had to rush to the lab on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta. Traffic was a nightmare! Like, why do people in Dompu drive like they’re in a race? I swear, I almost lost my mind. I mean, come on, it’s not the Indy 500! I was stuck behind this dude on a motorbike who thought he was the king of the road. I was like, “Bro, you’re gonna end up in a ditch!” Finally made it to the lab, and guess what? My experiment from yesterday went totally haywire. I was working on this enzyme reaction, and it blew up in my face—literally! I had this green goo all over me. I looked like a walking science project. My lab mates were cracking up, but I was fuming. Like, how does that even happen? I’m a biochemist, not a clown! After that fiasco, I needed a break. So, I hit up the local warung on Jl. Raya Dompu. Best place for some nasi goreng! I ordered it spicy, of course. I mean, if it doesn’t make you sweat, what’s the point? While I was waiting, I overheard this old guy talking about the weather. He was like, “It’s hotter than a volcano!” And I was like, “Dude, you have no idea. I work with enzymes!” Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs in, all excited. He’s like, “Pak, pak! There’s a festival at the alun-alun!” I was like, “What?!” I totally forgot about the festival. Dompu’s alun-alun is always buzzing with life, especially during events. So, I scarfed down my food and dashed over there. When I got to the alun-alun, it was packed! There were stalls everywhere, selling all kinds of stuff. I saw some cool crafts, and this one dude was selling these crazy hats. I mean, who doesn’t need a giant straw hat in Dompu? I almost bought one just for the laughs. But then, I heard this loud commotion. Turns out, there was a dance competition happening. And let me tell ya, these kids were killing it! I was laughing so hard, I almost cried. One kid tripped and fell, but he got up and kept dancing like a champ. I was like, “That’s the spirit, man!” But then, I got a bit annoyed. Some guy was trying to sell me this weird drink. He was like, “It’s good for your health!” I was like, “Dude, I’m a biochemist. I know what’s good for me.” He just stared at me, confused. I mean, come on, I’m not falling for that! As the sun started to set, the sky turned this beautiful orange. I took a moment to just breathe it all in. Dompu can be chaotic, but it’s got its charm. The mountains in the background, the sound of laughter, the smell of street food—it’s all part of the vibe. But then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get crazier, I bumped into my old college buddy, Rudi. We hadn’t seen each other in ages! We ended up chatting for hours, reminiscing about our wild college days. I was like, “Remember that time we almost blew up the lab?” And he was like, “Yeah, and you were the one who set off the fire alarm!” Good times, man. By the time I got home, I was exhausted but happy. I plopped down on my couch, still covered in that green goo. I thought about how wild the day was. Dompu, you never cease to amaze me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and chaos. Just another day in the life of a biochemist in Dompu!
