Man, what a day! I swear, Gresik really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I woke up this morning, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” LOL, boy was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets—Jalan Raya Gresik, to be exact. It’s like the main artery of this place. I’m cruising along, feeling all smart in my lab coat, ready to tackle some science stuff. But then, BAM! Traffic jam outta nowhere. Like, seriously? It’s 8 AM! Who’s even driving at this hour? I’m stuck behind this old dude in a beat-up motorbike. He’s going 10 km/h, and I’m losing my mind. I’m like, “C’mon, man! We got places to be!” Finally, I get to the lab. It’s on Jalan Dr. Soetomo, right? I walk in, and my colleague, Rina, is already there. She’s got this crazy hairdo today—like a bird’s nest or something. I can’t help but laugh. “Rina, what’s up with your hair?” She just rolls her eyes and says, “Science is messy, dude.” Classic Rina. So, we dive into our research. We’re studying the local mangroves—super important for the ecosystem, ya know? But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Like, really? In the middle of an experiment? I’m fuming. I mean, Gresik’s got a lot of things going for it, but reliable electricity ain’t one of ‘em. I’m pacing around, muttering about how I should’ve just stayed in bed. After an hour of waiting, the lights flicker back on. Thank goodness! We get back to work, and I’m feeling all pumped. But then, I spill coffee all over my notes. Ugh! I’m like, “Great, just great.” Rina’s cracking up, and I’m just sitting there, staring at my soggy papers. “Guess I’m not a coffee scientist after all,” I joke. Lunchtime rolls around, and I decide to hit up this warung on Jalan Pahlawan. Best nasi goreng ever! I’m chowing down, and this little kid comes up to me, all wide-eyed. He’s like, “Mister, are you a scientist?” I’m like, “Yeah, kid! I study the mangroves.” He looks at me like I’m a superhero or something. It’s cute, honestly. Makes all the chaos worth it. But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, monsoon-level rain. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, laughing at the absurdity of it all. “Gresik, you’re wild!” I shout to the sky. People are looking at me like I’m nuts, but whatever. I finally make it back to the lab, drenched but happy. We finish our experiments, and I’m feeling accomplished. But then, I check my phone. My buddy from Jakarta texts me, “Dude, you won’t believe what happened!” I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, he got stuck in a flood. I can’t help but chuckle. “Welcome to Indonesia, bro!” As the day wraps up, I’m walking back home along Jalan Veteran. The sunset is gorgeous, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. I stop for a moment, just taking it all in. Gresik is chaotic, but it’s my chaos. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life, right? Gresik, you crazy, but I love ya!
