Man, what a day! I’m still buzzing from all the craziness in Jambi-City. Seriously, where do I even start? So, I woke up late. Classic me, right? Alarm didn’t go off. I was supposed to meet my buddy at the Taman Anggrek park. It’s this chill spot with flowers and stuff. But nah, I rolled outta bed like a zombie. Rushed through breakfast. Just a piece of toast. Ugh, I know, I know. Not the best fuel for an ichthyologist, but whatever. I grabbed my gear and bolted out the door. The streets were wild! Jalan Jambi was packed. Like, where are all these people going? I finally made it to the park. My buddy was already there, looking all smug. “You’re late!” he said. I just rolled my eyes. “Traffic, man!” But honestly, I was just slow. We decided to hit the river. The Batanghari River, to be exact. It’s the lifeblood of Jambi-City. I mean, it’s huge! And the fish? Don’t even get me started. We were hoping to catch some local species. I was pumped! But then, bam! Outta nowhere, it started pouring. Like, monsoon-level rain. I was soaked in seconds. My gear was drenched. I was like, “Great, just great!” But my buddy was laughing. “This is the real Jambi experience!” he said. I wanted to punch him, but I couldn’t help but laugh too. After the rain, the river was all muddy. We tried fishing, but it was a bust. Just a bunch of trash floating by. I was fuming. “Where are the fish?!” I yelled. My buddy just shrugged. “Maybe they’re on vacation?” We decided to take a break and grab some food. Hit up this warung on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Best fried rice ever! Seriously, I could eat that stuff every day. The owner was super friendly too. He told us about the local fish market. “You gotta check it out!” he said. So, we did. The market was insane! Fish everywhere! I saw some crazy species I’d never seen before. I was like a kid in a candy store. But then, I got mad again. Some dude was selling fish that were clearly endangered. I couldn’t believe it! “Dude, what are you doing?” I shouted. He just shrugged. “Gotta make a living, man.” I was fuming again. But then, I spotted a group of kids playing by the river. They were laughing and splashing around. It was such a pure moment. I couldn’t help but smile. Jambi-City has this vibe, you know? It’s chaotic but beautiful. After the market, we decided to hit up the local museum. It’s small but packed with cool stuff about the region’s fish. I was in nerd heaven. I started rambling about fish anatomy to my buddy. He was zoning out, but I didn’t care. I was on a roll! Finally, we wrapped up the day. I was exhausted but happy. Jambi-City is wild, man. It’s got its ups and downs, but that’s what makes it special. I can’t wait to go back. Just gotta set my alarm next time!
