Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Jaten is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window on Jalan Raya Jaten. I’m like, “Great, another scorcher.” But hey, I’m pumped. Today’s the big auction at the Jaten Cultural Center. I grab my coffee from that little warung on Jalan Pahlawan. You know the one? The one with the best kopi in town. I swear, that stuff could wake the dead. I’m chugging it down, and I spill a bit on my shirt. Classic me. I’m like, “Awesome, now I look like a walking coffee stain.” So, I rush over to the center. Traffic on Jalan Jendral Sudirman is a nightmare. I’m stuck behind this old dude on a motorbike. He’s going like 10 km/h. I’m yelling, “C’mon, grandpa! Let’s move it!” But he’s just chillin’, probably thinking about his glory days. Finally, I get to the auction. The place is packed! I mean, people everywhere. I’m talkin’ about a sea of faces. I step up to the podium, and my heart’s racing. I can feel the energy. It’s electric! I start my spiel, and boom! The bids start flying. But then, outta nowhere, this guy in the back yells, “I’ll give you a goat for that painting!” I’m like, “A goat? Really?” The crowd bursts out laughing. I can’t even. I’m trying to keep it professional, but I’m dying inside. Then, I spot my buddy, Rudi, in the crowd. He’s waving like a maniac. I’m like, “Dude, what are you doing?” He shouts, “I’m here for the goat!” I can’t help but laugh. Rudi’s always been a character. As the auction goes on, I’m feeling the vibe. People are bidding like crazy. I’m on fire! But then, I notice a couple of folks arguing over a vintage batik piece. They’re practically ready to throw down. I’m like, “Hey, chill! It’s just fabric!” But they’re not having it. Finally, I manage to calm them down. I’m like, “Look, how about we all just share it? You can take turns wearing it to the Jaten Festival!” They laugh, and I’m relieved. Crisis averted. But then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, the lights go out! Total blackout! I’m standing there, heart racing, thinking, “Great, now I’m gonna have to auction in the dark.” But the crowd starts cheering, clapping, and I’m like, “What is happening?” Turns out, it’s just a power outage. Classic Jaten, right? I grab my phone, turn on the flashlight, and keep the auction going. People are loving it! I’m like, “Who needs lights when you’ve got charm?” After the auction, I’m exhausted but happy. I head to the food stalls on Jalan Merdeka. Gotta get my fix of sate and nasi goreng. I’m starving! I sit down, and Rudi joins me. He’s still talking about that goat. I can’t even. As I’m munching, I think about the day. It was wild, emotional, and full of surprises. Jaten never fails to keep me on my toes. I love this city, with its crazy streets and even crazier people. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another day in Jaten, where every moment is an adventure. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
