Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m the Watchman in Karangsembung, right? And lemme tell ya, today was a rollercoaster. First off, I woke up late. Like, super late. My alarm? Yeah, it decided to take a day off. So, I’m sprinting down Jl. Raya Karangsembung, dodging potholes like I’m in some kinda video game. I swear, if I trip on one more of those, I’m gonna lose it. Anyway, I finally get to my post, and it’s already buzzing. The market on Jl. Pahlawan is packed. I can smell the fried tofu from a mile away. Ugh, my stomach’s growling like a beast. But no time for snacks, duty calls! So, I’m standing there, keeping an eye on things, when I see this kid, right? He’s trying to sell some weird-looking fruit. I think it’s called salak or something. He’s all like, “Buy one, get one free!” I’m like, “Dude, you can’t just give away fruit like that!” But he’s persistent. I admire that. Then, outta nowhere, this old lady starts yelling at him. Turns out, she thinks he’s stealing her customers. I’m just standing there, trying not to laugh. It’s like a scene from a soap opera. I mean, c’mon, it’s just fruit! But then, bam! A motorcycle zooms by, and I swear it almost hits me. I’m like, “What the heck, man?!” I’m ready to chase after the guy, but then I remember I’m the Watchman, not the Flash. So, I just shake my head and mutter something about reckless drivers. Later, I head over to Jl. Merdeka. There’s this street performer doing some crazy dance moves. I mean, he’s got skills! I’m clapping, and the crowd’s loving it. It’s nice to see people smiling, y’know? But then, this one guy starts heckling him. Like, dude, chill! Let the man dance! I’m getting all worked up, thinking about how some people just don’t get it. But then, the performer pulls off this insane backflip, and the crowd goes wild! I’m cheering like a madman. It’s moments like these that make my job worth it. But wait, there’s more! I get a call on my radio. Some trouble at the corner of Jl. Suka and Jl. Bahagia. I rush over, heart racing. Turns out, it’s just a couple of kids arguing over a game of sepak takraw. I mean, really? I thought it was a full-blown brawl! I can’t help but chuckle. Kids these days, man. They take their games way too seriously. I break it up, tell ‘em to chill, and they just laugh it off. I’m like, “You guys are lucky I’m in a good mood today!” As the sun starts to set, I take a moment to breathe. The sky over Karangsembung is painted in shades of orange and pink. It’s beautiful. I think about how this city, with all its quirks and chaos, feels like home. But then, just when I think it’s winding down, I hear a loud crash. I sprint towards the sound, and what do I find? A bunch of kids playing football, and they’ve knocked over a vendor’s cart! Oh man, the vendor is NOT happy. I step in, trying to mediate. “C’mon, guys, you gotta be careful!” But they’re just laughing, thinking it’s all a game. I’m trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “Why do I even bother?” Finally, I help the vendor pick up his stuff. He’s grumbling, but I can see he appreciates it. I mean, it’s tough out here. Everyone’s just trying to make a living. As I wrap up my shift, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. Happy, angry, surprised—this city has it all. Karangsembung, you wild beast! You keep me on my toes. I head home, exhausted but satisfied. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what it’ll bring? But for now, I’m just glad to be the Watchman of this crazy, beautiful place.
