Man, what a day! I swear, being a fisherman in Kedungwaru is like riding a rollercoaster. So, I woke up early, like 4 AM early. The sun was barely peeking, and I was already out on Jl. Raya Kedungwaru, ready to hit the water. You know, the usual—grab my gear, check my nets, and hope for a good catch. But lemme tell ya, today was a whole different ball game. First off, I get to the river, and it’s packed! Like, what’s up with that? I thought I’d have the place to myself. But nah, there’s this group of kids splashing around, making a ruckus. I’m like, “Yo, can a fisherman work in peace?” But they just laughed and kept throwing water at each other. Kids, man. So, I finally find a spot near the edge of the river, right by the bridge on Jl. Sumber Rejo. I cast my net, feeling all hopeful. But then, outta nowhere, this old dude comes up to me. He’s like, “Hey, you catchin’ anything?” I’m like, “Dude, I just threw my net!” But he just stands there, staring at me like I’m some kinda fish whisperer. Then, bam! My net gets snagged. I’m pulling and pulling, and I’m like, “What the heck is this?” Turns out, it’s a bunch of old tires. Great. Just what I needed. I’m wrestling with this junk, and the old dude is still watching, probably thinking I’m some kinda circus act. Finally, I get my net free, but I’m fuming. I mean, come on! Kedungwaru is beautiful, but why’s it gotta be so trashy? I take a breather, look around, and see the rice fields in the distance. They’re stunning, man. But then I remember the trash. Ugh. After that fiasco, I decide to head to the market on Jl. Diponegoro. Maybe I can grab some snacks and chill for a bit. I’m walking, and I see this food stall selling fried tofu. My mouth is watering. I order some, and the lady behind the counter is super friendly. She’s like, “You look like you need a snack!” I laugh and say, “You have no idea!” While I’m munching, I overhear some locals talking about the fishing competition next week. I’m like, “What? I didn’t even know!” Apparently, it’s a big deal. Everyone’s gonna be there, showing off their catches. I’m feeling pumped but also nervous. What if I don’t catch anything? So, I finish my snack and head back to the river. I’m determined to catch something, anything! I throw my net again, and this time, I feel a tug. My heart races. I pull it up, and boom! I got a decent-sized fish! I’m jumping around like a madman. Finally, some luck! But then, just as I’m celebrating, I hear this loud honking. It’s a truck driving down Jl. Raya Kedungwaru, and it’s spilling water everywhere. I’m soaked again! I can’t even be mad, though. It’s just too ridiculous. I’m laughing at myself, thinking, “Only in Kedungwaru, right?” As the sun starts to set, I pack up my stuff. I’m tired but happy. I caught a fish, met some cool people, and had a wild day. Kedungwaru, you crazy place, you never fail to surprise me. I head home, thinking about that fishing competition. Bring it on! I’m ready for whatever this town throws at me next.
