Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from all the craziness in Lawang. I mean, I’m just an actuary, right? Numbers, stats, boring stuff. But today? Today was a wild ride. So, I wake up in my tiny hotel on Jalan Raya Lawang. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. I grab some breakfast at this little warung. Nasi goreng, of course. Can’t go wrong with that. But the coffee? Ugh, it was like they brewed it with a sock. I’m not even kidding. After that, I decide to stroll down Jalan Sumber. It’s a nice street, full of shops and people. I’m just vibing, you know? Then BAM! Outta nowhere, this street vendor starts yelling about some crazy sale. I’m like, “Dude, chill!” But I can’t resist. I end up buying a bunch of random snacks. I mean, who doesn’t love snacks, right? Then I hit up the Lawang market. OMG, it was packed! People everywhere, haggling like their lives depended on it. I’m trying to navigate through the crowd, and this lady bumps into me. I spill my snacks everywhere. I’m like, “Are you serious?!” But she just laughs and keeps walking. I’m standing there, half mad, half amused. Next, I decide to check out the old colonial buildings on Jalan Diponegoro. They’re beautiful, but man, they need some TLC. I’m snapping pics, feeling all artsy, when suddenly it starts pouring. Like, outta nowhere! I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, drenched, thinking, “Great, just great.” But then, I see this cute little café nearby. I dash in, dripping water everywhere. The barista looks at me like I’m a wet dog. I order a hot chocolate, and it’s like heaven in a cup. I’m sipping it, feeling all warm and fuzzy, when I overhear this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. I can’t help but eavesdrop. Turns out, they’re fighting over where to eat. I’m thinking, “Dude, just go to the warung! It’s bomb!” After that, I decide to head to the Lawang train station. I’ve heard it’s a cool spot. I get there, and it’s like a scene from a movie. Trains coming and going, people rushing. I’m just standing there, taking it all in, when I spot this old man selling kue cubir. I can’t resist. I buy a bunch, and they’re so good! I’m practically dancing on the platform. But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. He’s like, “Need those reports ASAP!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Lawang! Can’t you see I’m busy living my best life?” But no, he doesn’t care. So, I find a corner, pull out my laptop, and start typing. And guess what? I get so into it that I don’t notice the time. Next thing I know, I’m late for my train! I’m sprinting through the station, laptop in hand, dodging people left and right. I finally make it just as the doors are closing. I’m panting, but I made it! On the train, I’m sitting there, catching my breath, when this kid next to me starts chatting. He’s super curious about my job. I’m trying to explain actuary stuff to a kid. It’s hilarious. He’s like, “So, you’re a number wizard?” I can’t help but laugh. Finally, I get back to my hotel, exhausted but happy. I flop onto the bed, thinking about all the madness. Lawang is wild, man. It’s got this energy that just pulls you in. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. But for now, I’m just gonna crash. What a day!
