Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a barber in Manggar is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I roll into the shop on Jl. Raya Manggar, right? The sun’s blazin’, and I’m already sweatin’ like a sinner in church. First customer? This dude walks in, hair lookin’ like a bird’s nest. I’m like, “Bro, what happened? Did a raccoon attack you?” He laughs, but I’m serious! I grab my scissors, and we start chattin’. Turns out he’s from Tanjung Redeb, just visiting. He’s got stories, man. Crazy ones. Like, he once tried to surf at Pantai Manggar and ended up in a tree. I’m crackin’ up, but then he says he’s scared of the ocean. I’m like, “Dude, you’re in Manggar! The beach is life!” After that, I get this lady, right? She’s all about the gossip. “Did you hear about the new café on Jl. Diponegoro?” she says. I’m like, “Nah, what’s the scoop?” Apparently, they serve the best kopi Manggar. I’m thinkin’, “Great, just what I need—more caffeine!” But hey, I’m all ears. She spills the tea about the mayor’s new park project. I’m like, “A park? In Manggar? Finally!” But then, bam! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m standin’ there with half a haircut, and it’s pitch black. I’m cursing under my breath. “Come on, Manggar! Not today!” I can’t see a thing. I’m feelin’ around for my phone, and I’m like, “Great, now I’m a barber in the dark.” Finally, the lights flicker back on. I finish the lady’s cut, and she’s happy. I’m relieved. But then, my next customer walks in, and he’s got this wild idea. “Let’s do a mohawk!” he says. I’m like, “Dude, you sure? This ain’t the 80s!” But he’s insistent. So, I go for it. I’m snippin’ away, and he’s lovin’ it. I’m thinkin’, “Maybe I should start a trend.” Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Rizky shows up. He’s got this huge grin. “You won’t believe what I found!” he says. I’m like, “What now?” He pulls out this old-school skateboard. I’m like, “Bro, where’d you get that?” Turns out, he found it at a garage sale on Jl. Sisingamangaraja. I’m dying laughing. “You’re gonna break your neck!” But then, the day takes a turn. I get a call from my mom. She’s in a panic. “Your cousin’s in trouble!” she says. I’m like, “What now?” Apparently, he got into a fight at the market. I’m fuming. “What’s wrong with him?” I’m ready to jump in my bike and head to Jl. Pasar. But then, I remember—family first. So, I wrap up the day, and I’m exhausted. I close the shop, and as I’m walkin’ home, I pass by the beach. The sunset is insane. I stop, take a breath, and think, “This is Manggar. Crazy, beautiful, and full of surprises.” I get home, and I’m like, “What a day!” I can’t wait to tell my buddies. Manggar, you wild!
