Yo, lemme tell ya about my day in Melati. Man, it was a wild ride! So, I woke up late, as usual. My alarm? Totally betrayed me. I jumped outta bed, threw on some clothes, and bolted outta my apartment on Jl. Raya Melati. I swear, I was still half-asleep, but the city was buzzin’ like crazy. First stop? Coffee, duh! Hit up this lil’ warung on Jl. Melati Indah. Best kopi in town, no cap. I ordered my usual, a kopi tubruk. The barista, this chill dude named Budi, was like, “You look like you need a double shot.” I laughed, but he was right! I was dragging. So, I’m sippin’ my coffee, and suddenly, BOOM! A street performer starts breakdancing right outside. Like, whoa! This guy was insane! Spinning on his head, doing flips. I was like, “Dude, I can barely walk straight!” I tossed him a few coins, and he winked at me. I felt like a big shot for a sec. Then, I decided to stroll down Jl. Melati Raya. The vibe was lit! People everywhere, street vendors selling all kinds of snacks. I grabbed some pisang goreng. OMG, so crispy! But then, outta nowhere, this cat jumps in front of me. I almost tripped! Like, chill, cat! You don’t own the sidewalk! After that, I headed to the park near Jl. Melati Hijau. It’s my go-to spot for sketching. I plopped down on a bench, pulled out my sketchbook, and started doodling. But guess what? My pencil broke! Ugh! I was so mad! I mean, c’mon, universe! Can’t a guy catch a break? While I was fuming, this lil’ kid came up to me. He was like, “Can I see your drawing?” I showed him, and his eyes lit up! He was so stoked. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Kids, man. They see the world differently. But then, the clouds rolled in. Outta nowhere, it started pouring! I was like, “Seriously?!” I grabbed my stuff and dashed for cover. I ended up in this random shop on Jl. Melati Utara. It was a cute lil’ boutique. The owner, a sweet lady named Ibu Sari, offered me a cup of tea while I waited for the rain to chill. We started chatting, and she told me about her family. She had this amazing energy. I felt like I was in a movie, just vibing with a stranger. The rain finally stopped, and I was like, “Thanks, Ibu! You’re the best!” So, I headed back out, feeling all inspired. I walked past the Melati Market, and the smell of grilled satay hit me. I couldn’t resist! I grabbed a skewer and devoured it. Best decision ever! As the sun started to set, I made my way to the riverbank. The view was breathtaking. The sky was painted in shades of orange and pink. I whipped out my phone and snapped a pic. Gotta capture the moment, right? But then, I saw this couple arguing nearby. Like, full-on shouting. I couldn’t help but eavesdrop. They were fighting over something silly, like who forgot to buy rice. I chuckled. Relationships, man. They’re a rollercoaster. Finally, I headed home, exhausted but happy. Melati had thrown me a curveball today, but I loved every second. I plopped down on my couch, ready to sketch out my day. I thought about the breakdancer, the kid, Ibu Sari, and the couple. Melati, you crazy city, you never fail to surprise me. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
