Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a furrier, right? Yeah, I know, sounds fancy, but it’s just me and my sewing machine in this little shop on Jl. Raya Mertoyudan. You know, the one with the bright blue awning? Yeah, that’s me. So, I wake up, and it’s already hot as hell. Like, come on, it’s Mertoyudan, not the Sahara! I grab my coffee from that little warung on Jl. Diponegoro. Best coffee ever, but the guy who runs it? Total grump. I swear, he could frown at a sunny day. Anyway, I’m chugging my coffee, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be a good day.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. I get to my shop, and guess what? My sewing machine decides to throw a tantrum. Like, really? I’m just trying to make a fur coat for some rich lady in Semarang. I mean, who needs a fur coat in this heat? But whatever, I digress. So, I’m wrestling with this machine, and it’s making this awful grinding noise. I’m about to lose it. I’m like, “C’mon, you piece of junk! Work with me here!” Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Budi swings by. He’s always got some wild stories. Today, he tells me about this new street food stall on Jl. Siliwangi. Apparently, they’ve got the best bakso in town. I’m like, “Dude, I’m in!” But first, I gotta fix this machine. After an hour of cursing and sweating, I finally get it to work. I’m feeling like a champ, right? So, I lock up the shop and head to Jl. Siliwangi. The smell hits me like a freight train. I’m drooling. I order a bowl of bakso, and it’s like heaven in a bowl. Seriously, I could marry it. But then, as I’m eating, I see this lady walking by with a dog in a fur coat. I’m like, “What the heck? A dog in a fur coat?!” I mean, come on! That’s just ridiculous. I can’t help but laugh. Mertoyudan is full of surprises, I tell ya. So, I finish my bakso, and I’m feeling good. I head back to the shop, and guess what? I find a note on my door. It’s from that rich lady. She’s canceling the order! I’m like, “Are you kidding me?!” I’m fuming. I mean, I just spent all day working on that coat. But then, I remember my buddy Budi’s words: “Life’s too short to be mad.” So, I take a deep breath and decide to hit up the market on Jl. Pahlawan. I need some new materials anyway. The market is buzzing. People everywhere, shouting, haggling. I love it! I grab some beautiful fur, and the vendor gives me a discount. Score! I’m feeling better already. As I’m leaving, I bump into this old lady. She’s selling these cute little trinkets. I stop to chat, and she tells me about her life in Mertoyudan. It’s heartwarming. I buy a little keychain from her. It’s a reminder that life’s not all about fur coats and sewing machines. Finally, I head home, exhausted but happy. Mertoyudan, you crazy little city, you never fail to surprise me. I’m ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Just hope my sewing machine behaves!
