Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Nabire really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? The sun’s blazin’ through my window on Jalan Raya, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to my bakery on Jalan Merdeka. I’m all pumped to whip up some fresh roti and kue. But guess what? My oven decides to play dead. Like, c’mon! I’m tryin’ to make a living here! I’m standin’ there, lookin’ at this hunk of metal like it just betrayed me. I’m sweating bullets, and it’s not even 8 AM yet. So, I call my buddy, Rudi. He’s the local handyman, and I swear he’s got magic hands. He rolls up, and I’m like, “Dude, save me!” He takes one look and starts crackin’ jokes. “Maybe it’s just takin’ a nap?” I’m like, “A nap? I need it to WORK!” But he gets it fixed, and I’m back in business. Phew! Then, I’m mixin’ dough, and the smell? Oh man, it’s heavenly. I’m feelin’ like a rockstar. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs in, all wild-eyed. He’s like, “Mister, there’s a snake on the street!” I’m like, “A snake? In Nabire?!” I rush outside, and sure enough, there’s this little python chillin’ on Jalan Diponegoro. I’m half freaked out, half amused. Who knew Nabire had its own wildlife show? After that, I’m back to bakin’. I’m makin’ these killer pastries, right? And then, my neighbor, Bu Siti, comes in. She’s always got the latest gossip. “Did you hear about the new café on Jalan Yos Sudarso?” I’m like, “Nope, but I hope they don’t steal my customers!” She laughs, and I’m like, “Seriously, I can’t compete with fancy lattes!” Then, around noon, I get a surprise visit from my cousin, Dika. He’s just back from Jakarta, all flashy with his new phone. He’s like, “Cuz, you gotta try this app!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m busy makin’ bread, not playin’ with apps!” But he insists, and I end up downloading it. It’s some food delivery thing. I’m thinkin’, “Great, now I can get my pastries to the people without leavin’ the shop!” But then, the delivery guy shows up late. I’m fumin’. “Dude, you had one job!” I’m pacing around, and my customers are lookin’ at me like I’m a madman. I’m like, “Sorry, folks, just a little bakery drama!” They laugh, and it lightens the mood. Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted but happy. I close up shop and take a stroll down Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. The sunset is gorgeous, painting the sky orange and pink. I stop by the market, grab some fresh fruits, and think about how crazy today was. Nabire, you wild! As I head home, I can’t help but smile. Sure, it was a rollercoaster, but that’s life, right? I wouldn’t trade my little bakery for anything. Bring on tomorrow!
