Man, today was a wild ride. I’m a lifeguard in Palimanan, and lemme tell ya, this city never sleeps. So, I roll up to the beach, right? It’s like 8 AM, sun’s blazing, and I’m already sweating buckets. I’m stationed at the Pantai Kejawanan, which is usually chill, but not today. First off, I’m just settlin’ in, sippin’ my iced tea, when I see this kid, like, 10 years old, runnin’ full speed towards the water. I’m thinkin’, “Dude, slow down!” But nah, he dives right in. I’m like, “Great, here we go.” I blow my whistle, but he’s already splashing around like a maniac. Then, outta nowhere, this lady starts yellin’ from the shore. Turns out, it’s his mom. She’s freakin’ out, waving her arms like she’s tryin’ to take off. I’m like, “Chill, lady! He’s fine!” But she’s not havin’ it. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a little water, right? So, I’m keepin’ an eye on the kid, and then I spot this group of teenagers on the other side of the beach, near Jalan Raya Palimanan. They’re blasting music, and I can hear it over the waves. I’m thinkin’, “Great, now I gotta deal with that.” But then, they start a dance-off. Like, seriously? Who dances at the beach? But I can’t help but laugh. They’re all flailing around, and I’m just sittin’ there, tryin’ not to lose it. Then, bam! A wave crashes, and the kid goes under. My heart drops. I sprint over, whistle blaring, and dive in. I’m like a dolphin, man. I grab him and pull him up. He’s coughing and sputtering, but he’s okay. I’m like, “Dude, you gotta chill!” He just grins at me, all wide-eyed. Kids, man. After that, I’m feelin’ like a hero, right? But then, I see this old dude on Jalan Raya Palimanan, just chillin’ with his fishing rod. He’s got this huge grin, and I’m thinkin’, “What’s his secret?” Turns out, he caught a fish! A big one! I’m like, “Nice catch, grandpa!” He just winks at me. I swear, he’s livin’ the dream. But then, the mood shifts. This couple starts arguing, like, full-on shouting. I’m like, “Dude, not here!” They’re near the food stalls, and I can smell the satay. I’m tryin’ to focus on the lifeguard stuff, but their drama is too much. I’m half tempted to jump in and be like, “Yo, save it for later!” Finally, the sun starts settlin’ down, and I’m thinkin’ it’s time to wrap up. But nooo, a storm rolls in outta nowhere. I’m like, “Seriously?!” The wind picks up, and I’m tryin’ to get everyone outta the water. I’m shoutin’, “Get out! Get out!” But some folks are just chillin’, not a care in the world. I’m like, “Do I need to swim out there and drag you?” By the time I’m done, I’m soaked, tired, and kinda happy. I mean, it was a crazy day, but that’s Palimanan for ya. You never know what’s gonna happen. I pack up my stuff, head home, and think about how tomorrow’s gonna be just as wild. So yeah, that was my day. Lifeguarding in Palimanan is like a rollercoaster. You gotta love it, even when it drives you nuts.
