Man, what a day! I swear, Pekanbaru really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blasting through my window like it’s trying to roast me alive. I’m like, “Chill, sun!” I grab my gear, ready to dive into the river. You know, the Siak River? It’s like the lifeblood of this city. I hit the road, cruising down Jl. Sudirman. Traffic’s a mess, as usual. I mean, come on! It’s like everyone decided to drive at the same time. I’m stuck behind this old dude on a motorbike, and he’s going like 10 km/h. I’m losing my mind! I’m yelling, “C’mon, grandpa! Let’s move it!” But he’s just vibing, probably listening to some dang oldies. Finally, I get to the river. The water’s looking good, but man, the heat is unreal. I dive in, and it’s like a refreshing slap in the face. I’m swimming around, feeling like a fish, and then BAM! I see this huge fish. I mean, HUGE! Like, I’m talking about a fish that could probably eat my arm. I freak out, but then I’m like, “Nah, I’m the diver here!” So I keep swimming, trying to act all cool. After a while, I come up for air, and guess what? There’s this group of kids on the bank, laughing and pointing at me. I’m like, “What’s so funny?” One of them yells, “You look like a mermaid!” I’m dying! I’m like, “Yeah, a super buff mermaid!” They’re cracking up, and I can’t help but laugh too. Kids are the best, man. But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud bang. I look over, and there’s a boat capsizing! My heart drops. I swim over, and it’s chaos. People are screaming, water splashing everywhere. I dive down, trying to help. I’m pulling people up, and it’s wild. I’m thinking, “This is not what I signed up for!” Finally, we get everyone out. I’m soaked, exhausted, but feeling like a hero. I’m like, “Yeah, I saved the day!” But then, I look around, and my gear is gone. Like, poof! I’m searching everywhere, and I’m fuming. “Who steals a diver’s gear?!” I’m ready to throw hands. I head back to the shore, and there’s this food stall. The smell of nasi goreng hits me like a freight train. I’m starving! I order a plate, and while I’m waiting, I see this guy trying to sell me a fake watch. I’m like, “Dude, I just saved lives! I don’t need a fake Rolex!” He just shrugs and walks away. Finally, I get my food, and it’s glorious. I’m shoveling it in, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. I’m sitting there, thinking about how crazy today was. From almost drowning to saving lives to eating the best nasi goreng ever. Pekanbaru, you wild! As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, feeling all kinds of emotions. I’m happy, I’m tired, I’m a little angry about my gear, but mostly, I’m grateful. This city, man, it’s got a vibe. The streets, the people, the chaos—it’s all part of the ride. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild adventure in Pekanbaru. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
