Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up in my little pad on Jalan Gajah Mada, right? The sun’s blasting through the window, and I’m like, “Ugh, another day in Pontianak.” But then I remember, I’m a banderillero! Time to get my game face on. First stop, the market on Jalan Alianyang. It’s a total madhouse! People everywhere, haggling over fruits and veggies. I swear, if I hear one more person yell “Murah! Murah!” I might lose it. But then I spot this old lady selling the juiciest mangosteen. I’m like, “Yo, give me a kilo!” Best decision ever. That fruit is like a party in my mouth. After that, I head to the bullring. It’s on Jalan Diponegoro, and let me tell ya, the vibe is electric. Fans are hyped, and I’m feeling it too. But then, bam! My buddy Rudi trips over his own feet. Classic Rudi. Everyone’s laughing, and I’m just shaking my head. “Dude, you’re supposed to be a pro!” The first bull comes out, and it’s a beast. I’m talking massive. I’m standing there, heart racing, thinking, “This is it!” I charge in, and the crowd goes wild. I’m dodging and weaving, feeling like a superhero. But then, outta nowhere, the bull charges at me! I barely sidestep it. My heart’s pounding like a drum. I can’t believe I didn’t eat it. But then, oh man, the real drama starts. Some guy in the crowd starts yelling at me. “You call that a banderilla?!” I’m like, “Bro, chill! I’m doing my best!” But he keeps going. I’m fuming. Who does he think he is? I almost threw a banderilla at him. But I just took a deep breath. Gotta keep it cool, right? After the show, I’m feeling pumped. I hit up a warung on Jalan Sejahtera for some nasi goreng. Best comfort food ever. I’m scarfing it down, and this little kid comes up to me. He’s like, “Are you a real banderillero?” I’m like, “You bet, kid!” His eyes light up, and I’m thinking, “Man, this is why I do it.” But then, just when I think the day’s winding down, I get a call. It’s my cousin. “Dude, you won’t believe this! There’s a street festival on Jalan Yos Sudarso!” I’m like, “I’m in!” So I rush over, and it’s a total blast. Music, dancing, food stalls everywhere. I’m trying all this crazy street food. Ever had fried tofu with sambal? It’s life-changing. But then, I see it. A giant inflatable bull. I can’t resist. I climb on top, and the crowd goes wild. I’m posing like a king, and then—whoops! I slip and fall right on my butt. Everyone’s laughing, and I’m just lying there, thinking, “Well, that’s one way to make an entrance.” As the night wraps up, I’m walking home, feeling all the feels. Pontianak’s got this energy, you know? The streets are alive, the people are wild, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m exhausted but happy. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and a bit of drama. Just another day in the life of a banderillero in Pontianak. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
