Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a Watchman in Rantauprapat is no joke. I woke up, and the sun was blazin’ like it was tryin’ to roast me alive. I mean, c’mon, it’s Rantauprapat, not the Sahara! So, I grab my coffee from that little warung on Jalan Sudirman. You know the one? The one with the best kopi in town. I swear, that stuff could wake the dead. I downed it like it was water, and I was ready to tackle whatever the day threw at me. First stop, Jalan Yos Sudarso. I’m cruisin’ down the street, and boom! Traffic jam. Like, seriously? It’s not even rush hour! I’m sittin’ there, fuming. I see this dude on a motorbike, zippin’ through the chaos like he’s in a Fast & Furious movie. I’m like, “Bro, chill! You ain’t Vin Diesel!” Finally, I get to the market. Man, the hustle and bustle is insane! People shoutin’, vendors hawkin’ their goods. I love it, but it’s also a bit much. I’m tryin’ to keep my cool, but then I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, tryin’ to sell some snacks. He’s got this big ol’ smile, and I can’t help but buy a pack of keripik. Best decision ever! But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. My heart drops. I rush over, and it’s a couple of cars that collided near the corner of Jalan Diponegoro. People are gatherin’, takin’ videos like it’s some kinda reality show. I’m like, “Yo, this ain’t a movie! Help out!” I get there, and the drivers are yellin’. One’s got a bloody nose, and the other’s just sittin’ there, lookin’ dazed. I’m tryin’ to keep the peace, but man, it’s like herding cats. I’m shoutin’, “Calm down, folks! Let’s not turn this into a soap opera!” After that chaos, I head over to the park by the river. It’s a nice spot, ya know? I sit down, tryin’ to catch my breath. The sound of the water is chillin’. I see some kids playin’ soccer, and it makes me smile. Reminds me of my childhood. But then, I spot this old man feedin’ the ducks. He’s got this huge bag of bread, and he’s tossin’ it like he’s in a bread fight. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, who knew ducks could be so aggressive? They’re quackin’ like they’re in a WWE match! Then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, askin’ if I wanna hit up the night market later. I’m like, “Heck yeah! Rantauprapat’s night market is lit!” I mean, the food, the vibe, the people—it’s all good. But before I can even think about that, I get a call. Some trouble at the old school near Jalan Sisingamangaraja. I rush over, and it’s a bunch of kids messin’ around. I’m like, “What are you guys doin’? This ain’t a playground!” They just laugh and run off. Kids these days, man. I can’t even. Finally, I wrap up my shift. I’m exhausted but happy. I head to the night market, and it’s packed. The smell of grilled satay hits me like a freight train. I grab a plate, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. As I’m munchin’, I see the sunset over the river. It’s beautiful, man. Rantauprapat has its quirks, but it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a bit of drama. Just another day in the life of a Watchman in Rantauprapat. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
