Man, what a day! Ruteng, you wild beast! I woke up this morning, sun shining through my window like it was trying to blind me. I mean, c’mon, I just wanted to sleep in. But nah, the universe had other plans. So, I roll outta bed, grab some nasi goreng from the street vendor on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta. Best breakfast ever, no joke. The guy knows how to spice it up! I’m munching away, thinking life’s good, right? Wrong! I head over to the market on Jl. Sisingamangaraja. It’s packed! Like, sardines in a can packed. I’m dodging people left and right, trying not to spill my coffee. And then, bam! I bump into this old lady. She’s got a basket full of veggies, and I’m like, “Sorry, ma’am!” But she just glares at me like I stole her last piece of tempeh. Whatever, I keep moving. I’m on a mission. Gotta check out the local art scene, right? So I hit up this gallery on Jl. Flores. It’s small but packed with talent. I see this painting of the Ruteng hills, and wow, it hits me. The colors, man! It’s like the hills are alive or something. I’m standing there, lost in thought, when the artist walks up. He’s this young dude, all chill vibes. We start chatting, and he tells me about the local culture. Did you know Ruteng is known for its traditional weaving? Crazy cool! I’m all inspired now, thinking I should try my hand at it. Spoiler alert: I can’t even knit a scarf. But then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “We need you at the office ASAP!” Ugh, the worst! I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Ruteng! Can’t you see I’m busy?” But no, duty calls. So I sprint down Jl. Pahlawan, dodging motorbikes like I’m in some action movie. I finally get to the office, and it’s chaos. Papers everywhere, people yelling. I’m like, “What happened? Did a tornado hit?” Turns out, we had a major screw-up with a project. I’m fuming! I mean, c’mon, can’t we get one day without drama? After hours of fixing stuff, I’m drained. I step outside, and the sunset is insane. The sky’s all orange and purple over the hills. I take a deep breath, trying to chill. But then, I hear this loud music. It’s coming from a street party on Jl. Merdeka. I can’t resist! I head over, and it’s a full-on celebration. People dancing, laughing, eating. I grab some sate and join in. I’m dancing like nobody’s watching, and honestly, it feels amazing. Ruteng, you know how to lift spirits! But then, I spot that old lady from earlier. She’s there, too! And she’s dancing! I can’t help but laugh. We lock eyes, and she cracks a smile. Maybe I’m not such a bad guy after all? As the night goes on, I’m just vibing. Ruteng’s got this energy that’s contagious. I’m thinking, yeah, today was a rollercoaster. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, I stumble home, tired but happy. Ruteng, you crazy city, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
