Man, lemme tell ya about my day in Sabang. Wow, just wow. I’m a tractor driver, right? But today? Today was a whole different level of crazy. So, I roll into Sabang early, like 6 AM early. The sun’s just peeking over the hills, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. I parked my tractor near the beach, you know, that beautiful Pantai Iboih? The waves were crashing, and I was feelin’ good. But then, bam! My phone buzzes. “Yo, we need you at Jalan Teuku Umar ASAP!” Ugh, fine. I hop in my tractor, and off I go. But lemme tell ya, the traffic on Jalan Raya Sabang was a nightmare. Like, seriously, who taught these folks how to drive? I swear, I saw a guy on a motorbike almost take out a whole family of ducks. Ducks, man! Anyway, I finally get to the site, and it’s chaos. They’re building some new resort or whatever. I’m like, “Great, just what Sabang needs, more tourists.” But hey, I gotta do my job. So I’m movin’ dirt, and it’s hot as heck. I’m sweatin’ like a pig, and my shirt’s stickin’ to me. Gross, right? Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me. He’s like, “Mister, can I drive the tractor?” I’m like, “Dude, you’re like 10!” But he’s got that look in his eyes, you know? So I let him hop in for a sec. He’s grinnin’ ear to ear, and I’m thinkin’, “Man, I was like that once.” But then, just as I’m about to get back to work, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some dude just backed his car into a pile of bricks. I’m like, “Seriously? In Sabang?!” The guy jumps out, all panicked, and I can’t help but laugh. Like, bro, you just wrecked your ride in front of a bunch of construction workers. Classic. After that, I’m tryin’ to focus, but my mind’s wanderin’. I start thinkin’ about the food in Sabang. Man, I could go for some Mie Aceh right now. Or maybe some fresh grilled fish from the market. I can almost taste it. But nope, gotta keep workin’. Finally, the sun’s settin’, and I’m wrapping up. I’m exhausted, but there’s this beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean. I take a moment, just me and my tractor, and it hits me. Sabang is wild, man. It’s got this energy. The people, the food, the chaos. As I’m driving back, I pass by Jalan Diponegoro, and there’s this street vendor selling fried bananas. I can’t resist. I stop, grab a bunch, and they’re so good. Sweet, crispy, just what I needed. So yeah, my day was a rollercoaster. From chaos to calm, from sweat to snacks. Sabang, you crazy, but I love ya. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
