Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Singojuruh, right? This little gem in East Java, Indonesia. I’m a firefighter, and lemme tell ya, today was anything but chill. First off, I grab my coffee at that tiny warung on Jl. Raya Singojuruh. You know the one? The one with the crazy old lady who thinks she’s a barista? She’s like, “You want sugar?” and I’m like, “Nah, just give me the caffeine!” I swear, she’s got a sixth sense for making the worst coffee ever. But hey, it’s the only game in town, so I chug it down. Then, boom! My phone buzzes. Emergency call. Fire at a warehouse on Jl. Pahlawan. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” I hop on my bike, zooming through the streets. The traffic is wild, man! Motorbikes everywhere, people honking like it’s a concert. I almost hit a chicken crossing the road. Classic Singojuruh, right? I get to the scene, and it’s chaos. Flames shooting up like they’re auditioning for a movie. I’m thinking, “This is gonna be a long day.” My crew is already there, suited up and ready to go. We grab the hoses, and I’m feeling pumped. Adrenaline is coursing through me. But then, outta nowhere, this dude runs up. He’s screaming about his cat. “My cat’s in there!” I’m like, “Dude, we gotta focus on the fire!” But he’s not having it. I mean, I get it, but come on! Priorities, man! So, while we’re battling the flames, I’m also trying to calm this guy down. “We’ll get your cat, I promise!” I’m not even sure if I believe that myself. But hey, I gotta keep him from jumping into the fire, right? Finally, we get the fire under control. I’m drenched in sweat, and my heart’s racing. And guess what? We find the cat! It’s hiding under some old crates, looking all sassy like, “What’s the fuss?” I hand it over to the dude, and he’s crying like a baby. I mean, it’s just a cat, but whatever floats your boat, man. After that, I’m starving. I hit up that street food stall on Jl. Diponegoro. You know the one with the best satay? I order a bunch, and while I’m waiting, I see this group of kids playing soccer. They’re kicking a ball around, laughing, and it hits me—this is what it’s all about. But then, outta nowhere, one of the kids trips and falls. I’m like, “Oh no!” But he just gets up, brushes himself off, and keeps playing. I’m cracking up. Kids are tough, man. So, I finally get my satay, and it’s glorious. I’m munching away, feeling like a king. But then, my phone buzzes again. Another emergency. A flood in the area near Jl. Merdeka. I’m like, “Seriously? Can’t a guy catch a break?” We rush over, and it’s a mess. Water everywhere, people stranded. I’m wading through, helping folks get to safety. It’s exhausting, but seeing those smiles when we help them? Totally worth it. By the end of the day, I’m beat. I head back home, and as I’m riding through Singojuruh, I can’t help but smile. This place, with all its craziness, is home. The streets, the people, the chaos—it’s all part of the ride. So yeah, that was my day. Intense, emotional, and totally unpredictable. Just another day in Singojuruh, I guess. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
