Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a violin maker, right? And today in Soko, wow, just wow. First off, I woke up late. Like, super late. My alarm? Totally ignored it. I jumped outta bed, threw on whatever I could find. I mean, who needs matching socks anyway? Not me! I rushed outta my tiny apartment on Jalan Raya Soko, barely grabbing my tools. Soko is wild, man. The streets are always buzzing. I hit the main road, and it’s like a scene from a movie. Cars honking, people shouting, street vendors selling everything from fried rice to weird snacks I can’t even name. I swear, I saw a guy juggling pineapples. Pineapples! Who does that? So, I’m hustling to my workshop on Jalan Pahlawan. I’m thinking about this new violin I’m working on. It’s gonna be epic. But then, bam! I trip over a stray cat. Like, seriously? A cat? I’m a violin maker, not a cat wrangler! I almost dropped my precious tools. Finally, I get to my workshop, and it’s chaos. My buddy, Rudi, is there, and he’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe this!” I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, he accidentally spilled varnish all over my workbench. I mean, come on! I was so mad, I could’ve thrown a violin out the window. But then I remembered, violins are my babies. Can’t do that. After cleaning up, I finally get to work. I’m carving this beautiful piece of wood, and it’s like magic. The sound it’ll make? Pure gold. I’m lost in my thoughts, thinking about how music can change lives. Then, outta nowhere, the door swings open. It’s this old lady, Mrs. Sari. She’s a regular, always coming in for repairs. She’s like, “I need my violin fixed, like, yesterday!” I’m trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “Lady, I’m not a magician!” But I smile and say, “Sure, I’ll get right on it.” While I’m working on her violin, she starts telling me about her grandkids. She’s so proud, it’s adorable. I can’t help but smile. It’s moments like these that make my job worth it. Then, just when I think the day can’t get crazier, the power goes out. Yup, in the middle of my work! I’m sitting there in the dark, cursing my luck. But then I hear music. Like, real music. I step outside, and there’s a street performer on Jalan Merdeka, playing the most beautiful tune on a violin. I’m blown away. I stand there, just listening. It’s like the universe is reminding me why I do what I do. I’m feeling all the feels, you know? Happy, sad, inspired. I even throw a few coins in his hat. After the power comes back, I finish up Mrs. Sari’s violin. She’s over the moon when she hears it. I’m grinning like a fool. It’s moments like this that make the chaos worth it. As I close up shop, I walk home, taking the long way through Soko. The streets are lit up, and there’s a festival vibe in the air. I grab some street food—best fried rice ever, by the way. I finally get home, exhausted but happy. I plop down on my couch, thinking about the day. Soko is wild, unpredictable, and full of surprises. Just like me. What a day, man. What a day.
