Man, what a day! I swear, if I had a euro for every crazy thing that happened in Fermoy today, I’d be rich. So, I woke up, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had to head to the office on Patrick Street. You know, the one with that cute little café? Yeah, I was dreaming of a latte. But nooo, the bus was late. Like, seriously late. I was standing there, tapping my foot, watching the time tick away. I was ready to lose it. I mean, c’mon, Fermoy! Get it together! Finally, the bus rolls up, and I hop on. I’m crammed in there like a sardine. And of course, some dude decides to start a convo about the weather. Like, bro, it’s Ireland. It’s always wet! I just nodded and pretended to be super interested in the window. When I finally got to the office, I was already in a mood. My boss, Mr. O’Reilly, was in a mood too. He’s always in a mood. He starts talking about this new project on the Blackwater River. I mean, it’s a cool river and all, but I was just not feeling it. I was like, “Can we not?” But he was all hyped up, waving his hands around. I just wanted to crawl under my desk. Then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my mate, Sarah. She’s like, “Meet me at the park!” I’m thinking, “What park?” But it’s Fermoy, so there’s only one – the lovely Fermoy Town Park. I needed a break, so I said, “Sure, why not?” I dashed outta the office, and let me tell ya, the park was buzzing. Kids were running around, dogs were barking, and there was this guy playing the accordion. I mean, who even plays the accordion anymore? But it was kinda nice, you know? I grabbed a bench and just soaked it all in. Sarah showed up, and she was all smiles. We started chatting about life, work, and how annoying Mr. O’Reilly is. Then, outta nowhere, she pulls out this massive slice of cake from the café. I was like, “Where’d you get that?” She just winked and said, “You gotta know the right people.” I swear, that cake was the best thing I’d ever tasted. It was like a party in my mouth! But then, the mood shifted. We were laughing, and suddenly, this random dog runs up and knocks over my drink. I was like, “Noooo!” It spilled everywhere. I was so mad! I mean, c’mon, Fermoy! Can’t a person enjoy a drink in peace? After that, we decided to walk along the river. The Blackwater was looking gorgeous, all sparkly and stuff. I was feeling better, you know? Just me, Sarah, and the river. But then, we saw this group of tourists trying to take a selfie. They were all awkward, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, it’s not that hard, right? Just point and click! As we walked back, I spotted the old church on Abbey Street. It’s such a beautiful building. I always get a bit emotional when I see it. It’s like, history, you know? But then I remembered I had to get back to work. Ugh, adulting sucks. When I finally got back to the office, Mr. O’Reilly was still going on about the project. I just nodded along, thinking about that cake and the river. I was like, “Whatever, man.” By the end of the day, I was exhausted but happy. Fermoy had thrown me a curveball, but I rolled with it. I mean, it’s a small town, but it’s got character. And even on a crazy day, it’s home. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but mostly just a reminder that life’s a wild ride. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
