Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m an agronomist, right? Spent the whole day in Mount-Merrion, and lemme tell ya, it was a rollercoaster. First off, I woke up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I scrambled outta bed, threw on whatever I could find. I mean, who needs matching clothes when you’re just gonna get dirty in the fields, am I right? So, I hop on the bus at the stop on the corner of the main road, and it’s packed. Like, sardines in a can packed. I’m squished between this old lady and a dude who smells like he just rolled in a compost heap. I’m thinking, “Great start to the day.” Finally, I get off at the Mount-Merrion Avenue stop. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Okay, maybe today won’t be so bad.” But then I remember I left my notebook at home. Ugh! My whole plan for the day was in that thing. I could’ve screamed. I head over to the local community garden on the corner of the Greenfield Road. It’s a nice spot, really. Lots of folks there, all digging in the dirt, planting stuff. I love it. But today? Today was chaos. Some kid—probably no older than 10—decides to “help” me. He’s got a spade that’s bigger than him, swinging it around like he’s some kinda gardening ninja. I’m like, “Dude, chill! You’re gonna take out an eye!” But he just laughs and keeps going. I can’t help but smile. Kids, man. They’re wild. Then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, heavy rain. I’m talking buckets. Everyone’s scrambling for cover. I’m soaked, my papers are ruined, and I’m just standing there, looking like a drowned rat. But then I see the locals laughing, sharing umbrellas, and I’m like, “Okay, this is kinda nice.” After the rain, the sun comes back out, and the air smells fresh. I’m feeling good again. I decide to take a stroll down the lovely Mount-Merrion Avenue. The houses there are gorgeous, all those big, old trees lining the street. I’m thinking, “Man, I could live here.” But then I see this guy walking his dog. The dog’s got a sweater on. A freakin’ sweater! I can’t help but laugh. Who puts a sweater on a dog? I mean, come on! But then I think, “Maybe I should get my cat a little jacket.” Anyway, I finally make it to the Mount-Merrion Park. It’s a beautiful spot, with all those flowers blooming. I’m just standing there, taking it all in, when I spot a couple of my colleagues. They’re having a picnic! I’m like, “Why wasn’t I invited?” But whatever, I join them. We’re munching on sandwiches, and I’m telling them about my day. They’re cracking up at the kid with the spade and the dog in the sweater. It’s all good vibes. But then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. He’s like, “We need to talk about the soil samples.” I’m like, “Dude, I’m on a picnic!” But he doesn’t care. So, I wrap up the picnic, and I’m off to the lab on the other side of Mount-Merrion. I’m walking down the streets, and I can’t help but notice how beautiful everything is. The little shops, the cafes, the people. It’s a nice place, really. But then I get to the lab, and it’s a mess. Papers everywhere, machines beeping. I’m trying to focus, but my mind’s still on the picnic. I’m like, “Why can’t work be more like that?” Finally, I finish up, and I’m heading home. I’m exhausted but happy. Mount-Merrion, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Just hope I don’t forget my notebook again!
