Man, what a day! I swear, Thurles is a wild ride sometimes. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m heading down Liberty Square, and I’m already late. Typical. I’m dodging tourists like I’m in some kinda video game. They’re all snapping pics of the Cathedral of the Assumption. I mean, it’s a beaut, but c’mon, people! Move it! I’m trying to get to work, not join a photo shoot. So, I finally get to my spot on O’Rahilly Street. I’m setting up my stuff, and outta nowhere, this guy comes up to me. He’s all like, “Hey, mate, you got any deals?” I’m thinking, “Dude, it’s 9 AM. What kinda deals you want?” Turns out, he’s looking for a new phone. I’m like, “Bro, you’re in the wrong place.” But hey, I’m a nice guy, so I help him out. Then, just as I’m getting into the groove, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Sean. He’s like, “You won’t believe what just happened!” I’m thinking, “Oh great, what now?” Turns out, he got locked outta his house on Emmet Street. Classic Sean. I’m laughing so hard, I almost drop my stuff. But then, the day takes a turn. I’m chatting with a customer, and suddenly, this massive dog runs by. I mean, HUGE. It’s like a bear on a leash. The owner’s struggling to keep it in check. The dog sees me and bolts straight for my table. I’m like, “No, no, no!” But it’s too late. My stuff goes flying everywhere. I’m talking phones, chargers, you name it. I’m standing there, mouth agape, while the owner’s apologizing like mad. I’m fuming, but also kinda laughing. Like, really? A dog? After that chaos, I need a breather. So, I stroll down to the park by the River Suir. It’s nice there, y’know? I sit on a bench, trying to calm down. I see kids playing, families picnicking. It’s all so peaceful. But then, I spot this guy trying to impress a girl. He’s juggling. And he’s terrible at it. Balls are flying everywhere, and I’m just dying laughing. Like, dude, just stop. Finally, I head back to work. I’m thinking, “Okay, let’s finish strong.” But nooo, the universe has other plans. I get a call from my boss. He’s like, “We need to talk.” My heart drops. I’m thinking, “What now?” Turns out, he wants me to cover for someone on the other side of town. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” But I can’t say no. So, I pack up and head to the other side of Thurles. I’m walking down Slievenamon Road, and it’s a trek. I’m sweating, cursing under my breath. But then, I see this little café. The smell of coffee hits me, and I’m like, “Yes, please!” I grab a cup, and it’s like heaven in a mug. I’m feeling a bit better, but still annoyed. Finally, I get to my new spot. It’s a bit quieter here, but I’m just exhausted. I’m thinking about the day, all the craziness. But then, this little kid comes up to me. He’s got this huge smile, and he says, “You’re the best dealer ever!” I can’t help but grin. It’s moments like that that make it all worth it, y’know? So, I wrap up the day, head home, and crash. Thurles, you crazy town, you’ve done it again. I’m beat, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. What a ride!
