Man, what a day! I swear, being a car instructor in Wicklow is like riding a rollercoaster—up, down, and all around. So, I roll outta bed, grab my coffee (needed that caffeine fix, ya know?), and head out to meet my first student. We’re on Main Street, right? It’s buzzing with life. I mean, who doesn’t love a good morning in Wicklow? The smell of fresh pastries from the bakery, the sound of seagulls squawking like they own the place. But then, bam! My student shows up late. Like, seriously? I’m standing there, tapping my foot, thinking, “C’mon, mate, we ain’t got all day!” Finally, he rolls in, looking like he just woke up from a nap. I’m like, “Dude, you’re driving a car, not a couch!” We hop in the car, and I’m trying to keep it chill. But then, he starts freaking out over the roundabout on Church Hill. I mean, it’s just a circle, right? But to him, it’s like a scene from a horror movie. “What do I do?!” he yells. I’m like, “Just go! It’s not a black hole!” After that chaos, we hit the scenic route along the coast. Man, Wicklow’s coastline is stunning! The cliffs, the ocean, the whole vibe. I’m feeling good, thinking, “This is why I love this job.” But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring rain. Like, buckets! I’m talking about a full-on monsoon. My student’s eyes go wide, and I’m just trying to keep it together. “Just breathe, buddy! It’s not the end of the world!” We pull over on the side of the road near the Wicklow Head Lighthouse. I’m soaked, he’s panicking, and I’m thinking, “This is not how I pictured my day.” But then, I look out at the lighthouse, and it hits me. This place is beautiful, even in the rain. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna live here? After the rain chills out, we get back on the road. I’m feeling a bit more relaxed, and we cruise down by the harbor. The boats are bobbing, and I’m like, “See? This is what driving’s all about!” But then, he nearly misses a turn on Abbey Street. I’m yelling, “Turn! TURN!” and he’s like, “Where?!” I’m thinking, “Dude, are you blind?!” Finally, we get back to the driving school, and I’m exhausted. I mean, I love teaching, but some days, it’s like herding cats. I’m just about to call it a day when my next student shows up. This one’s a total contrast—she’s all smiles and energy. I’m thinking, “Finally, someone who gets it!” We hit the road again, and she’s nailing it. We drive through the beautiful Wicklow Town, past the old church on St. Patrick’s Street. I’m feeling proud, like a parent watching their kid score a goal. But then, she decides to take a selfie while driving. I’m like, “Whoa, hold up! This ain’t a TikTok video!” After a few more laps around the town, we wrap up. I’m feeling a mix of relief and joy. Wicklow’s got this charm that just sticks with ya. I mean, yeah, it’s been a wild ride today, but that’s what makes it fun, right? As I head home, I can’t help but smile. Wicklow, with its quirky streets and stunning views, always keeps me on my toes. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
