Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Abu-Ghaush, right? This little gem of a town, just chillin’ between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. I mean, it’s got that whole vibe, you know? The streets are narrow, the houses are all cozy, and the smell of fresh pita hits you like a warm hug. I grab my coffee from this tiny café on HaPalmach Street. Best coffee ever! I swear, if I could bottle it, I’d be a millionaire. But then, boom! My phone buzzes. Work stuff. Ugh. My boss wants a report. Like, now. I’m a System Analyst, not a magician! So, I’m hustling down the streets, dodging kids on bikes and old ladies with bags of groceries. I’m like, “Excuse me, coming through!” But they just stare at me like I’m a tourist. I mean, I live here! I know the best spots! Anyway, I hit up the market on HaNesher Street. It’s packed! People everywhere, haggling over veggies and spices. I love it, but it’s chaos. I’m trying to grab some za’atar, and this dude cuts in front of me. I’m like, “Bro, really?” But he just gives me this grin. I can’t even be mad. It’s Abu-Ghaush! Then, I get this wild idea. I’m gonna take a shortcut through the alley by the old church. Big mistake. I turn the corner, and there’s a cat. Just chilling. I’m like, “Hey, buddy!” But this cat? It decides to sprint right in front of me. I trip, spill my coffee everywhere. I’m on the ground, covered in coffee and embarrassment. But then, this sweet old lady comes over. She’s like, “You okay, habibi?” And I’m like, “Yeah, just my dignity is gone.” She laughs and hands me a napkin. I love the people here. They’re so warm. So, I finally make it to the office, and my boss is all stressed. “Where’s the report?” I’m like, “Chill, I’m on it!” I sit down, and my computer decides to freeze. Classic. I’m staring at the screen like it owes me money. After what feels like forever, I finally get it done. I send it off, and my boss is like, “Good job!” I’m like, “Thanks, but I almost died today.” Lunchtime rolls around, and I hit up this place on HaYarden Street. They’ve got the best shawarma. I’m standing in line, and this guy in front of me is talking about the football game last night. I’m half-listening, half-daydreaming about that shawarma. Finally, I get my food, and it’s glorious. I take a bite, and it’s like a flavor explosion. I’m in heaven. But then, I see this kid drop his ice cream. My heart breaks a little. I’m like, “Dude, I got you!” I give him my drink. He looks at me like I’m a superhero. The day goes on, and I’m just trying to keep it together. I head back to the office, and it’s like a million degrees. I’m sweating like crazy. I’m thinking, “Why didn’t I wear a t-shirt?” By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I walk home through the streets of Abu-Ghaush, and it’s beautiful. The sun is setting, casting this golden light over everything. I pass by the old olive trees, and I can’t help but smile. I get home, plop on the couch, and just breathe. What a day! I’m tired, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Abu-Ghaush, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart.
