Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a butcher in Ka-abiyya (il) ain’t for the faint-hearted. Woke up this mornin’ thinkin’ it’d be just another chill day, ya know? But nah, the universe had other plans. First off, I hit the streets of Al-Mahatta. It’s always a bit wild there, but today? Whoa. I’m walkin’ to my shop, and I see this dude tryin’ to parallel park his car. I mean, c’mon! It’s like watchin’ a giraffe on roller skates. He’s goin’ back and forth, back and forth. Finally, he just gives up and leaves it in the middle of the street. Classic Ka-abiyya, right? So I get to my shop, and the smell of fresh meat hits me. It’s like heaven, but then I remember I forgot to restock the spices. Ugh! I’m runnin’ low on za’atar and sumac. Gotta hit up the market later. Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Samir strolls in. He’s all hyped up, talkin’ about some new shawarma place on Al-Jazeera Street. Says it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I’m like, “Dude, I slice bread for a livin’!” But I’m happy for him. I mean, who doesn’t love good food, right? But then, the real chaos starts. This lady comes in, all frantic. She’s like, “I need a whole lamb, like, NOW!” I’m thinkin’, lady, it’s not a drive-thru! But I can’t say that. So I’m like, “Sure, no prob!” I run to the back, grab the lamb, and it’s heavier than my ex’s baggage. While I’m wranglin’ this thing, I hear a commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a street performer doin’ some crazy dance on Al-Mahatta. I swear, he’s got moves like Jagger! Everyone’s stoppin’ to watch, and I’m like, “C’mon, people! I got meat to cut!” But I can’t help but chuckle. It’s Ka-abiyya, man. Gotta love the vibe. Finally, I get back to the lady, and she’s on her phone, totally oblivious. I’m like, “Hey, your lamb’s ready!” She jumps, drops her phone, and it shatters. I’m tryin’ not to laugh, but it’s hard. I mean, who drops their phone while orderin’ a lamb? After that, I’m feelin’ a bit drained. I decide to take a breather outside. The sun’s settin’ over the Mediterranean, and it’s beautiful. I’m thinkin’ about life, ya know? How I’m just a butcher in this crazy city, but I love it. The people, the food, the chaos. It’s all part of the charm. But then, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s that same dude from earlier! He’s knocked over a fruit stand on Al-Jazeera. Bananas everywhere! I can’t help but laugh. It’s like a scene from a movie. As the day winds down, I finally hit the market. I’m grabbin’ spices, and the vendor’s talkin’ my ear off about the best way to cook lamb. I’m like, “Dude, I’m a butcher! I know how to cook!” But I smile and nod. Gotta keep the peace, right? By the time I get home, I’m exhausted but happy. Ka-abiyya’s got its quirks, but it’s my home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a butcher, full of surprises, laughter, and a whole lotta meat. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
